Here’s some of what new goalkeeper Michael Gspurning had to say after his home debut as a Sounder:

On the home crowd: Great. Thanks for coming to everybody today, because it was just a friendly. We the new players get a first impression of how it is in the stadium, and I’m happy that we did a great job. It’s always important that you have a good performance in your last friendly game before the season starts. If gives you a better feeling. It doesn’t mean nothing, but it gives you a better feeling for the game, and this we did well today. But it means nothing. Next time we start with the sesason.

On the team coming together in time for meaningful play: I think everybody has seen today that we are ready with defense and offense. There are small parts that you always can improve. I think we are ready and it is time to start the season.

On the defense: A shutout is always good. It’s a good feeling to have this result now to start the season. The other team was a good team. It was not the same that happened to us in Cancun – it was a good last test and now next week we go to win.
