Back from one miserably timed week off

Well, it made sense at the time: The Sounders were training in Florida. It seemed like the last chance to take some time away before the start of a competitive season that could last until December. What could happen?

Well, the Sounders could trade two valuable and well-liked young players for Eddie Johnson. And the Sounders Women could sign Hope Solo. But that’s about it. Aside from all the games.

Anyway, sorry for being away at such an interesting and active time. However, I’m back now, and should be able to hit the ground running as coach Sigi Schmid will be holding a media conference call at 11 a.m. I’ll be tweeting with highlights from that, and then will be back here with the highlights. I’m also eager to come back in with some thoughts about the trade. AND I promise no more week away until the 2012 season is in the books.

The fury was interesting to watch. On the bright side it shows people REALLY care about this club. How many guys on the Mariners bench would generate that kind of heat? But having some more time to think about it, I think people see the logic. The hard part is knowing which EJ will show up. For the second time in his career I heard him say that his “personal issues” are behind him. I hope that’s the case.

DR – it seems there is never a perfect time for vacation … Everyone knows that … But what can you say when you and TNT staff have cultivated the top Sounders blog?
    Nice work!
