We got some time with Brad Evans and Jeff Parke after Sounders training today. Naturally, the conversation was mostly about their recent time with the U.S. National Team. And I’ll have posts on those topics soon.

However, maybe the most memorable portion came from Evans, when asked if he had known new Sounders reserve goalkeeper Andrew Weber, when they were both growing up in Arizona.

Oh, yes indeed.

Evans’ story:

We played in high school against each other. I’m sure he remembers, but we were playing high school once and my high school team was playing against his, and I rounded and I scored and he grabbed me with both hands by my jersey and threw me in a 360. This was when I was like a sophomore in high school, I weighed like 140 pounds, and he was still the same size that he is now. He got a red card and got sent off. I’ll always remember. But yeah, we grew up playing club together too. His head coach was my head coach for a while. So we know each other pretty well and his brother as well. We went on a couple of years to Europe, so we know each other pretty well.
