In advance of tomorrow morning’s SuperDraft, the Sounders put out this history of the club’s first three drafts:

I asked coach Sigi Schmid this week what he thinks of the Sounders’ draft record so far:

“I think we’ve done well,” he said. “You look at players, I mean Zakuani is with our team, so is Mike Fucito. Michael Seamon is still with our team: Brian Meredith, Josh Ford, Servando Carrasco … those are all players that we picked up in the draft. So from that standpoint I think it’s pretty comparable to what other teams do, especially after the first year we were never picking in the top 10. When you’re outside of the top five or top 10 it makes it a lot more difficult. … If you can get a couple of players out of each draft that can stick with your team, that’s good, especially when you’re outside of the top 10. And when you’re in the top 10, you need to find a guy hopefully that’s going to be an impact guy for you very quickly. We haven’t had that option since Year One (Zakuani), and we did that very well in Year One with Steve Zauani.”

I still can’t get over those day-glo schoo-lboy kits … but I know, I’m just part of the same loud minority that didn’t like putting those silver “performance strips” over the beautiful rave green … I’m sure most fans love those new kits

Haven’t been able to buy a jersey since those horrible performance stripes came about. Proudly wearing my rave green from 2009
