The Portland Timbers unveiled a third kit today, going with a white retro jersey to join their current primary green and alternate red kits.

I have always hoped that the Sounders would go with a white retro alternate of their own. And I’m told it was considered and rejected when the club went first with the electricity and now the cyan.

One day.

Looks great, without all the Timbers stuff of course.

This pains me to say but . . . PDX did real well. Nice retro look with homage to the old school Timbers, nicely done. Hopefully the Sounders will one day add in some retro USL or NASL touches too. One can hope.

Then when one compares this jersey to our new cyan jersey . . . ugh. Although it may look good on 10 year olds, I will never wear a cyan jersey, nor should any grown adult male – ever.

I don’t mind all the rave and electricity and cyan, but I’ve always wished that the club would balance that with some classic kits. Either retro, like this one, or gray or something. One day, indeed.
