Sounders FC has declined its options on four players: goalkeeper Terry Boss, defender Taylor Graham, and forwards Nate Jaqua and Pat Noonan. The names were released as part of the MLS process for the two-stage re-entry draft next month.

Any of these players still could re-sign with the Sounders, although presumably at a lower salary.

Boss however, has written on his Facebook account that he intends to retire due to the series of concussions he has suffered. That is a change from his status when the Sounders decided to shut him down to the end of the 2011 season. At that time I asked him if he was considering walking away, and he made it very clear that was not his intent.

No surprise on Jaqua or Noonan – their playing time decreased as their ability to compete effectively in MLS decreased.

Boss had potential but concussions are serious matters and glad that he is focusing on his long term health and future.
