This just in from the club:

The Seattle Sounders FC revealed the new third kit for the 2012 season featuring a color spectrum in the blue/green family named “super cyan” and trimmed in electricity. The signature rave green jersey will continue to serve as the Sounders FC primary kit.

“Super cyan is an evolution of the Sounders FC distinct color palette,” said Sounders FC owner Joe Roth. “The super cyan kit with the electricity trim definitely sets the Sounders apart. As always, we’re proud to feature Xbox on this and all of our Sounders FC kits.”

Super cyan will be worn for Champions League, U.S. Open Cup and friendly matches in order to differentiate between these competitions and MLS league matches. The shale kit will continue as the secondary kit and will be worn when the rave green is in color conflict or is similar to a home team’s primary kit.

The Xbox logo is featured prominently on the jersey front with a two-tone Sounders FC logo over the heart. The traditional adidas 3-stripes and trim are electricity. The jersey, shorts and socks will all feature the same color palette.

The third kit features the adidas TECHFIT™ Powerweb technology designed to improve core strength by applying optimal pressure to areas of the athlete’s body to increase blood flow. The Powerweb bands allows for maximum range of motion, breathability and comfort. TECHFIT™ focuses the athlete’s muscles’ energy to generate maximum explosive power, acceleration and long-term endurance.

Sounders FC Kit Combinations

2010 Rave green kit; Sounder blue kit; electricity kit

The color scheme of the third kit will continue to cycle following the tradition of many European clubs.

When i was a kid in the mid to late 80′s, neon surf style gear was briefly in style (Quiksilver). Electricity yellow and Super Cyan look like attempts to go back to those days. Sorry Sounders, but my money will be staying securely in my wallet – not buying any of those items.
But, some youth outfits might look good on some youngsters – marketing surveys probably told the team that, hence the reason for the new kits.

As for the team, maybe they can take the pitch singing, “I feel pretty, oh so pretty”.

This kit makes the “electricity” kit look positively brilliant. This looks like a Smurf on acid! Not a chance that anyone in my family buys this.

It’s the combo of the two colors that looks so… ugh. The blue is actually what the Sounders blue used to be.

Wow! Just plain ooooogly. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Oh well.
