NW teams 1st, 3rd, 6th as MLS sets attendance mark

Major League Soccer drew an average of 17,872 fans to its games this season, breaking the previous record of 17.406 set in the inaugural 1996 season.

The league once again was led by Sounders FC, which once again broke its own record with a 38,496 average. Northwest expansion entries Vancouver and Portland debuted at third and sixth in the league respectively.
