LA beats Chivas USA.

Sounders meet Chivas at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the final game of the MLS regular season.

Pregame: The Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA will play at 6 p.m. in a game televised on ESPN.

The game has no meaning in the standings: LA has clinched Supporters Shield and the Goats have been eliminated from playoff contention.

However, the rivalry should add some meaning to even an otherwise meaningless game … plus it’s a chance to scout Chivas, which will be the Sounders’ opponent in their regular-season ending match next weekend.

Here’s a game preview from, which will be updated as the game moves along.

I think the most interesting story line of the MLS playoffs, as it pertains to Cascadia, is that the tree-killers need to win both of their games _and_ have NYRB lose their last game in order to get a wild card berth … that would be one thing, but in case you missed it, Thierry Henry decided to get himself another red card in the NYRB’s last game … apparently just to hose his own team in their race to the playoffs and give the the tree killers a little more gas for their dulling chain saw … neither team deserves anything
