Sounders No. 2 goalkeeper Terry Boss isn’t with the team on its long trip due to an apparent concussion suffered July 20 against Manchester United, when six second-half goals whizzed past him.
Coach Sigi Schmid gave this explanation when asked by conference call today if the Man U performance altered the club’s faith in Boss.
“Terry right now is not on this trip because he has concussion-like symptoms, and he actually – the injury occurred in the Man U game on the first goal,” Schmid said. “So maybe if Terry was a little more honest with himself, maybe he should have come out of that game at that point. But obviously it was determined after that game that he had had a concussion on that particular play. So I think we’ve got to be fair to Terry on that and understand that that was the situation that occurred.”
