Today Tacoma Tide FC announce the return of key players on both offense and defense. Elliot Morton is a towering 6-4 defender from Tacoma and Seattle Pacific University. Cam Vickers is a diminutive 5-7 attacker from Auburn WA, and Sonoma State University.
Elliot Morton is a Tacoma native who graduated from Bellarmine Prep High School. Morton played premier soccer at Washington Premier FC of Tacoma. He is entering his junior year at Seattle Pacific in 2011. In his 2010 debut with Tacoma Tide FC Morton played nearly 1100 minutes in the back and even chipped in a goal in a visit to Victoria.
Morton uses his size as well as his leg strength to pose problems for opposing attackers. He is a versatile player as a recent switch to forward for the SPU Falcons attests. “Elliot really helped turn our season around by moving to forward. His strength and ability to win balls in the air created a lot of goal scoring opportunities for us,” said Falcons coach Mark Collings.
Morton played in all 17 SPU matches in 2010 and registered five goals and five assists.
Morton talks about a 2010 match for Seattle Pacific in this video interview from the school.
Cam Vickers continues to raise his level of play for both Sonoma State and Tacoma Tide FC. The 5-7, 140-pound attacker (winger, forward) was named to the 2010 Daktronics Division II Men’s Soccer All-West Region Second Team after leading his school with twelve assists. Vickers played nearly 1,500 minutes and scored three goals for the SeaWolves last season. Cam scored the winning goal for Sonoma State as they won the 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association championship.
Vickers first played for the Tide in 2008 and managed to score two goals in only 149 minutes of play. In his 2010 return to Tacoma Vickers notched four assists in 546 minutes while wearing Yellow.
The Auburn-Riverside High School graduate and Lake Tapps resident played his premier soccer with Crossfire.
