Riley still not cleared; Parke OK, Gonzalez ?

Not surprisingly, the Sounders’ newly announced friendly against Manchester United dominated the interviews after Sounders training today. However, there was also some time for injury updates.

We noticed Jeff Parke jogging around the pitch while his teammates trained, however Schmid said it was simply a recovery day for him and he’s fine. However, we also saw Leo Gonzalez limp off the pitch after taking some kind of knock in training, and Schmid wasn’t yet certain how that one would turn out.

As for James Riley, who missed the Houston game last Friday with a concussion?

“James’ situation is still day-to-day,” Schmid said. “He still hasn’t been cleared to fully train.”

It is disconcerting that all of those issues are clustered on the back line, especially with San Jose and defending Golden Boot winner Chris Wondolowski coming up Saturday.
