The PDL clubs in the Puget Sound area did a nice job of staying clear of Seattle Sounders FC home match conflicts in 2010. When the 2011 MLS and PDL schedules came out there were a few days where PDL sides were going head-to-head with home matches at Qwest Field.

Tacoma Tide FC are excited about their move to Stadium Bowl in 2011. It will be the first time in six years that the Tide will play in Tacoma proper. So imagine their feelings when it was revealed that their 2011 home opener at the 100+ year old historic venue conflicted with a Sounders home match against Sporting Kansas City.

The Tide contacted their foe for that night, the North Sound SeaWolves. SeaWolves owner Alex Silva was more than willing to work with Tide owner Mike Jennings, and as a result the Tide home opener has been pushed forward eight days to Friday, May 13, 2011 at 7:00 PM.

The clubs also agreed to change Tacoma’s visit to Everett to Wednesday, June 15th at 7:00 PM, adjusting it by a few days.

Both changes await final league approval.

Tacoma also revealed that they will host a double header on July 17th when the Sounders Women of the W-League play the Colorado Force at 1:00 PM at Stadium Bowl. Tacoma Tide FC follow with their international friendly with Port Vale FC at 4:00 PM.

  1. Good thing they changed the date. It would be a shame for the Tide to play in front of 15 fans instead of 20.
