Wrist surgery for Montero; Riley cleared

Sounders two-time leading scorer Fredy Montero will undergo surgery on his wrist today and is questionable for the Sounders game Saturday at San Jose. Coach Sigi Schmid said the injury was suffered while the team was in New York, and while Montero played last weekend against Houston, the doctors decided the injury is something that should be taken care of now.

“It’s something they felt the need to do surgery now,” Schmid said. “It’s not something major, but it’s something that needed to be done now because it could have developed into something major if it wasn’t taken care

Riley still not cleared; Parke OK, Gonzalez ?

However, we also saw Leo Gonzalez limp off the pitch after taking some kind of knock in training, and Schmid wasn’t yet certain how that one would turn out.

As for James Riley, who missed the Houston game last Friday with a concussion?

“James’ situation is still day-to-day,”
