Montero-Tetteh lead comeback draw with Houston

Here’s today’s report from the club as it continues training in Florida:

The Seattle Sounders FC faced the Houston Dynamo in its second training game at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando on Tuesday. Sounders FC (2-2-2) used two second-half goals to come-from-behind and draw with the Dynamo, 2-2, over two 45-minute halves.

After going down 2-nil in the first half, Fredy Montero converted a penalty kick and rookie Michael Tetteh added a second tally for Sounders FC in the final 45 minutes.

Catching up with Sounders after loss to Dallas

Sorry I’m late with this, but here’s the club’s update on its Monday training in Florida, including a 2-0 loss to FC Dallas.

The Seattle Sounders FC traveled to Orlando on Monday to face FC Dallas in a training game at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Sounders FC fell to Dallas, 2-0, over two 45-minute halves.

Brek Shea scored and assisted as FC Dallas netted two first-half goals and, despite a handful of scoring opportunities for Sounders FC, Seattle (2-2-1) was unable to find the back of the net.

Looking ahead to Sounders week in Florida

Here’s a look at the week ahead for Sounders FC:

The heat is on for Seattle Sounders FC as the preseason scene shifts to Florida for the final training sessions prior to the MLS roster compliance date of March 1. Sounders FC has added a fourth training game to this week’s schedule, giving the coaching staff one more opportunity to evaluate personnel before the final cutdown.

1st day training report from Florida

This just in from the club:

The Seattle Sounders FC traveled across the country on Friday to Bradenton, Florida, for the next phase of preseason training. The team will train in Bradenton through Sunday and then travel to Orlando for training games on Monday and Tuesday before returning to Bradenton for the final five days.

The team was greeted with 70-degree weather as they took the training field for the first time on Saturday morning at IMG Soccer Academy. Forward Nate Jaqua, who stayed in Seattle for the Arizona training camp, participated in warm-ups and did fitness work with fitness

Five matches on Fox Soccer, two sked changes

This just in from the club:

Seattle Sounders FC will have five matches nationally televised by FOX Soccer as part of the network’s 2011 agreement with Major League Soccer.

The date for the home match versus the Houston Dynamo has been moved to Friday, March 25. The game will be shown on FOX Soccer and start at 7:00 p.m. PT on the Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field. In addition, the first kick for the October 15 home match with the San Jose Earthquakes has been changed to 7:30 p.m. PT.

Breakout seasons for Fernandez and Friberg?

Sounders FC has completed its brief return to Puget Sound and will leave tomorrow for more the next phase of training in Florida.

For better or worse, I left a little ahead of them, traveling to Arizona to cover UW basketball. However, here are some Sigi Schmid quotes from today, provided by the club:

Sounders sign Alonso through 2014

The Sounders have locked up a guy who is clearly one of their top two or three most valuable players.

Here’s the news from the club:

The Seattle Sounders FC announced today that it has extended the contract of midfielder Osvaldo Alonso through the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Alonso, voted the team’s most valuable player in 2010, is entering his third year with Sounders FC. Per club and Major League Soccer policy, no further terms of the deal were disclosed.
