The Sounders open their playoff series with the Galaxy at 5 p.m. at QWest Field. The game will be shown on ESPN2, but the radio broadcast will be KTTH 770 AM.

Here’s pregame coverage from The News Tribune, and the Los Angeles Daily Breeze. Ths latter includes this from Galaxy coach Bruce Arena: “We needed this game,” Arena said. “We haven’t been in a game where we’ve been forced to win, forced to show up and play hard and fight and scrap for everything. That’s the kind of game that should give our team a lot of confidence as we go into a real difficult playoff series with Seattle. We want to believe we have four games left in the MLS season.”

The club reports that as of this morning nearly 35,000 tickets have been sold. The box office will open at 3 p.m. and tickets are available..

  1. Ahhh… Match Day has finally arrived. Last time to see the boys at home before next season. Sucks that so many will miss out because of the timing, but it should be fun. Looking forward to Becks spending some quality time with Ozzie.

See you guys there, I’ll be the guys dressed up as a Sounders fan. :)

And — not to jinx it or anything — so far weather far more beautiful than I had any hopes for.

Just thinking the same thing – what a good day to see a match – and hoped i did not jinx anything either.

This is going to be one tough match for the sounders – they really need to get a couple of goals today, and then hang on during the 2nd leg in LA. (Do they use the away goals rule in the MLS? Not sure about that)

If the team leaves Seattle down, or even tied, think that might be all she wrote for the season. But if we can get a quick one or two – and make LA chase the game, Qwest might just be a house of horrors for Becks and Co.

I can see the big two center backs for LA really trying to knock Montero and Nfuko around, so it will be important for Zak and Sanna on the wings to continue their hot streaks. If Landy comes inside to midfield, want Alonso to sit on him. Otherwise if Landy stays wide, Leo will need to sit on him and not let him run down the wing and turn the corner.

  5. Don Ruiz says:

Away goals don’t matter. it’s combined goals after two games. If total goals are even at end of second game: 30 minutes of extra time. if still even: PKs.
