Good news and bad news in Sigi Schmid’s pre-RSL injury report.

The good news was that Michael Seamon was back in training after tweaking a knee yesterday. But the bad news was that starting defender James Riley is certainly out for tomorrow and next week’s Champions League match at Saprissa with an ankle sprain. Also, Blaise Nkufo will miss his second straight league game with a knee problem that a doctor will assess later today.

Here’s Schmid’s report:

“Seamon was fine. He was out there and did all of training. Sturgis got through fine so he’s in Jaqua’s fine. Riley is much improved over yesterday, but probably not enough where he can play. But where they put him on a crutch yesterday, today he was walking without it. The X-rays were negative. It’s just a matter of a week to three weeks, but he’s a quick healer, so I think there’s a shot by the time we play Columbus (Oct. 18) for him. … Blaise is still being bothered a little bit by the knee, so he gets seen by the doctor again today.”

Meanwhile, Sanna Nyassi was back in training after his long flight from Gambia national team duty in Africa.

“He didn’t play in the game,” Schmid said. “He was happy they they won. He feels all right.”

  1. Well Jaqua, time to show you can make it happen outside of Open Cup play.
