Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman was selected — and got my vote — as MLS player of the month for August.

Here was his resume for the month:

Kevin Hartman, FC DallasHartman was nothing short of spectacular in August, keeping Dallas in
several games and almost single-handedly winning others. Two shutouts,
Chivas USA home and Columbus road (to get the road unbeaten record); 2 goals
allowed in four games; 12 saves in four games (several of them game savers).
Hartman’s 0.50 GAA in August drops his now league leading GAA to 0.65 for
the season.

Coach Hyndman after Chivas USA match “Kevin Hartman continuously comes up
with the biggest save of the year. Every time I think it’s the biggest save
of the year, there’s another one that’s coming.”

Getting my second vote was Seattle’s own Fredy Montero:

Fredy Montero scored 3 goals and had 1 assist in three MLS matches in August. Scored the MLS Goal of the Week for the opener v Houston on Aug 8 and added a pair, including stoppage time winner v Chicago on Aug 28. Also assisted on a goal in CCL match at Marathon on Aug 19. Seattle went undefeated 2-0-1 for the month in league play. Montero took 13 shots in those 3 games, including 8 on goal.

Here’s the release from the league:

Major League Soccer and the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) today announced that FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman was voted Major League Soccer’s Player of the Month for August. Hartman led FC Dallas to an undefeated record in the month while posting two clean-sheets and allowing just two goals in four League games.
