SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC (8-8-4; 28 pts.)
CHIVAS USA (5-10-3; 18 pts.)
8 p.m. Saturday, Home Depot Center; Carson, Calif.
KONG 6/16.
RADIO: 97.3 FM (1210 AM in Spanish).
HEAD TO HEAD: Chivas leads 2-0-1 and is the only Western Conference team Seattle has never beaten. This is the first meeting this season. The Goats will visit Qwest Field on Oct. 15.
TEAM LEADERS: For Seattle – G 8, Fredy Montero; A 9, Montero; S 60, Montero; SOG, 24, Montero; GAA 1.23, Kasey Keller. For Chivas – G 7, Justin Braun; A 3, Braun; S 42, Braun; SOG 18, Braun; GAA 1.4, Zach Thornton.
SIGI SCHMID SCOUTING REPORT: “Defensively they (have become) very good. They ended up playing the same group in the back for a number of games. I think with (Michael) Umana, (Dario) Delgado, (Mariano) Trujillo and (Ante) Jazic that group really started to understand each other. But it was really the group in front: the midfielders and forwards did a good job of pressuring the opponents. They made it difficult for you to play and, as a result, they won balls back and took advantage of their opportunities.”
NOTES: The Sounders have won four straight league matches and are unbeaten over their last five. Chivas is 2-1-2 over its last five MLS games. However, the loss came in the most-recent match, 2-1 last weekend at Toronto. … Seattle has gone a season-best 261 minutes without allowing a goal. … The Goats’ top two goalkeepers have been injured at various times this season. Dan Kennedy suffered a season-ending biceps injury last weekend against Toronto. Thornton is listed as probable tonight. … Chivas defender Jonathan Bornstein is expected to be available tonight after playing 90 minutes Tuesday in the U.S. national team’s 2-0 loss to Brazil. … If Seattle defender Tyrone Marshall is cautioned he will have to sit out the next league game. … The referee will be Alex Prus. … Seattle and Chivas will meet again Sept. 1 in a U.S. Open Cup semifinal at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila.
NEXT: Seattle returns to CONCACAF Champions League play Thursday at Marathon of Honduras. The Sounders return to league play Aug. 28, meeting Chicago at Qwest Field.

Really looking forward to the game tonight … Don’t need a blowout … Just a win
Will be monitoring results of other Western Conf teams as well

  2. Random thought of the day, Feilhaber and DeMerit are both out of contract at the start of their respective seasons.

    Paging Mr. Hanauer….

  3. Excuse me, Feilhaber has contract but his team was demoted and looking to unload him.

  4. EverydayFan says:

Le Toux and Co did their part tonight and held Colorado to a draw, but DCU coughed up 3 to FC Dallas … Other games still under way
