Montero wins MLS player of week

Seattle Sounders FC forward Fredy Montero was voted MLS player of the week for scoring both goals in Seattle’s 2-1 win over Chicago on Saturday.

The honor is voted on each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. (Montero got my vote, btw, with my second choice going to Colorado’s Conor Casey.)

More information on Montero’s selection at MLSsoccer.com.

Sounders hold camper appreciation day

The Sounders held camper appreciation day Monday at Starfire. Youth soccer camp participants watched the club practice, received a brief greeting from each player and then received autographed player cards from each Sounder.

“The fans have been great for us, so it’s good to go out and talk to them a little bit,” forward Nate Jaqua said. “It’s a little bit of a whirwind because it’s a lot of guys coming through fast, but it’s fun.”

MLS week ends with Chivas beating DC

Pregame: One straggler MLS game tonight on ESPN2: D.C. United at Chivas USA at 7 p.m.

Here’s a preview from MLSsoccer.com. Bit of a dog game, actually, but potential scouting on the Sounders’ U.S. Open Cup semifinal (Chivas) and potential final opponents.

That’s the best I can come up with.
