As it happens, Chicago happens to be one of the few MLS clubs Seattle hasn’t played yet this season, and that means Freddie Ljungberg will be back at Qwest Field on Aug. 28, and then the Sounders will visit Chicago on Sept. 25.
And, as some of you have pointed out, Ljungberg happens to appear on that game’s ticket (thanks several of you who passed along photos… the one above is from Janette).
I asked general manager Adrian Hanauer if thinks the two looming Return-of-Freddie games are good things, or if he wishes the Chicago games had been played earlier in the season.
“I think ESPN and FSN probably think it’s a good thing,” he said. “It doesn’t thrill me. I’m sure Freddie is going to be motivated. I’m sure both teams will be motivated. But it’s just part of the deal.”
Here’s coverage of the trade from the Chicago Fire site.
