It’s the USA’s final match before heading for South Africa. Here’s a preview from the U.S. Soccer website. Coverage starts at 10:30 a.m.

And as before, I won’t update scores here, but the comments section is fair game for results and discussion.

  1. I’ll be very upset if Bob Bradley starts the B squad again.

  2. elmocatt says:

Not much chance of the B squad being out there – the czech game was to help trim the squad from 30 to 23. We now have our 23 players, so time to get the starting lineup ready for Eng. on June

Will be interesting to see who Bradley pairs with Altidore. Does he play Dempsey up top? He would seem to be the best option, but he is better when on the wing. Which would mean someone else would start at forward –
Buddle? Gomez? (not Findley – how did he make the squad?) Do hope the US does not play a 4-5-1 with Altidore alone up top. Also don’t see Gooch starting at this point – maybe he plays the last 20 minutes – he needs some more training camp time before ready for a full game.

Finally, anyone interested in doing a world cup bracket contest? There are several floating around (espn has one). I could put together an TNT group -maybe we could come up with a winning prize (pair of sounder tix?)
    what do you think DR?

  3. I’d like to do a bracket contest, even if just for fun.

That Findley-Donovan-Altidore combination looked good. If we could get 90 minutes of that team we could be dangerous. But then Gooch has another brain fart and we almost give up another goal. This team is so difficult to read.

    More Deuce!

  4. Donovan is good and everything, but my man Dempsey is a straight up killer.

  5. elmocatt says:

Nice to see the US up the tempo and skill level in the 2nd half and get the W.
Bradley still has some work to do on the paring with Altidore – Findley looked good at times, and then tried to take on too much for his skill level at other times. Also need to tighten up the def mid/def responsibilities. Torres looked like an artist out there with the ball at times.

For killer Dempsey shots, check out his goal for Fulham in a march Europa league match v. Juventus – a steath killer shot. Too bad he did not save this gem for South Africa.

  6. Don Ruiz says:

Really a different team in the two halves. In the first half they looked like a team that would lost to England, 5-0.

The second half — and ultimately the final result — should send them off to South Africa with some confidence.

  7. Don Ruiz says:

For a sports guy, I’ve never really gotten involved with brackets much, E, but if that’s something that the group would like I’d support anyway I could.
