Le Toux in blue: Did Sounders make mistake?

Sebastien Le Toux recorded one goal and one assist in Philadelphia’s 3-2 win at Houston on Saturday. And so, within a span of 24 minutes, the former Seattle Sounder figured in as many goals as his ex-teammates have managed over their last six league games.

While the Sounders have scored nine goals this season, Le Toux alone has scored five.

And even though it smacks as a pure second guess, that raises an obvious question: Did the Sounders err in making Le Toux available in the expansion draft? (Here is the list of players Seattle protected

Hanauer OK as Boca limps home 0-3

Boca Juniors concluded their U.S. tour Saturday with a 3-2 loss at second-division Portland. The loss sent the Argentine club home with an 0-3 record after having been outscored by a total of 7-2 against the Galaxy, Sounders and Timbers — including a 3-0 loss at Seattle.

Frankly, I was a little disappointed in Boca’s effort up here. For all their talk about representing that 50-star crest, they didn’t have their top players, didn’t start their top young talent, and didn’t really seem all that interested. Certainly it was fun for local fans to see the famous club,

Jaqua, Vagenas not expected until after break

The main portion of Sounders training today was a reserve game against the PDL Kitsap Pumas of the Premier Development League.

Here’s coach Sigi Schmid talking about that, a Sounders 4-0 win:

“It’s always good when you see people score goals. So Roger (Levesque) in the last couple of reserve games, obviously he got the goal against Boca, he got two here today. The reserve game before he got another one as well. So he is starting to score goals, which he wasn’t doing early on so that was good. I though David Estrada had some good moments. I thought

Toronto’s De Rosario player of week

DeWayne De Rosario was selected MLS player of the week today.

He got my top vote, with former Sounder Sebastien Le Toux getting my second vote.

Here’s the release from MLSsoccer.com.

Toronto FC forward Dwayne De Rosario was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 10 of the 2010 MLS season. De Rosario supplied two goals for Toronto in the team’s 3-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium.

The Toronto captain came off of the bench in the second half and produced

Sounders ‘really down’ after latest loss

Here is some reaction from the Sounders after their 1-0 loss in Colorado on Saturday dropped them to 3-5-3 on the season, with just one win in their last seven games and two goals over their last six league games.

Sounder coach SIGI SCHMID
On the game:

“We didn’t capitalize on our chances. Breakaway by (Freddie) Ljungberg at the end of the half, (Fredy) Montaro had a couple of good looks. If you give up a goal and you don’t score you will lose the game.”

On Connor Casey’s goal: “It was a battle for the ball.

Rapids react to 1-0 win over Sounders

A few quotes have begun trickling in from Commerce City, all from the Rapids so far:

Coach GARY SMITH: “We controlled large portions of the first period and I thought we well deserved to win.”

And…

“Conor scored a terrific goal from play and should give the fella a huge boast,” Smith said. “While he has been criticized for not scoring as people might suggest, his general play has been an absolute rock out front for us.”

CASEY on the goal: “I got tangled off the defender and Kasey was off the line. I tried to go
