More on Sounders, Seba and Crew

The Sounders train at Starfire again this morning. I’ll pop back in with whatever news comes out of there.

Meanwhile, here’s our Sounders story from today’s paper, outlining the Sounders surprising satisfaction with their play on the road last weekend.

Here’s the latest from the Crew Xtra blog, with Columbus left back Gino Padula listed as doubtful due to a knee bruise.

And here’s an update from the Philadelphia Inquirer on former Sounder Sebastien Le Toux’s injury suffered last night in a U.S. Open Cup qualifier.

Le Toux scores, then injured in Open Cup loss

Former Sounder Sebastien Le Toux scored Philadelphia’s lone goal in a 2-1 U.S. Open Cup qualifying loss to New York tonight.

However, he was injured later and carried off on a stretcher.

“It looks like a MCL sprain,” Philly manager Peter Nowak said. “We are going to do some more tests tomorrow and make sure what kind of steps he needs to take and what we need to do to bring him back as soon as we can… It is still too early to say what kind of grade of sprain it is. Like I said, we are going to

Keller OK, but others on injury list for Crew

Goalkeeper Kasey Keller said he is feeling fine again after a blow to the head in the Dallas game caused temporary headache and vision problems.

However, Pat Noonan (hamstring) and Michael Fucito (knee) — and of course Nate Jaqua — already have been ruled out for Saturday.

“(Fucito) just had a weird type of injury,” Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said today. “I guess it’s something that, in fact, our trainer has never seen before, so it’s something that’s going to take another week. . . . Noonan, we have got to see: anywhere between a week and two weeks.”

Schmid: The experimentation worked

A few comments from coach Sigi Schmid after today’s training session:

On how team is doing after two-match road trip: “It was a tough road trip from the standpoint of having to play two games that close together, both of them on the road. But it’s something we will hopefully face later in the year as well with the CONCACAF champions league. Obviously we changed the lineup around a little bit, but I thought in Dallas we had three points and a bad call at the end of the game cost us that. And in Toronto I thought we played

Sounders pleased with play, but not results

No one was pretending that one point off that road trip was a good thing. However, the Sounders returned to training today sort of surprisingly upbeat. More than one player joined Freddie Ljungberg in saying their play in Toronto might have been their best of the season.

That said, coach Sigi Schmid stopped well short of saying that odd lineup he used at Toronto would be repeated anytime soon.

Schmid also called an audible on his practice schedule today, getting his team off the pitch early and sending them indoors for weight work instead.

Otherwise, no big news from today’s

Sounders begin preparations for Crew

The Sounders return to training this morning at Starfire, so I’ll report back with any news after that.

Meanwhile, I guess it’s time to look ahead to Columbus’ visit: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Qwest Field, KING 5.

Here’s a quick summary from the league:

Columbus Crew at Seattle Sounders FC
Sigi Schmid has yet to lose to his former club while in charge of Sounders FC. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in the first meeting in May in Seattle last year, then Sounders FC came away from Crew Stadium with a 1-0 win on Oct. 3.
