TNT columnist John McGrath offers this nice piece on new Sounders voice Arlo White in today’s paper.

And how about you? I guess most of you were either at the stadium or watching on ESPN2 last week. But for those who listened on radio: Any first impressions on the Sounders’ new voice?

Meanwhile, my story in today’s paper was filled mostly with stuff that has already been blogged here. Still, here’s the link.

  1. Don,

Not sure if there’s a policy about posting links but here’s a highlight video from the Sounders website featuring Arlo’s PBP.

    Very enjoyable.

White brings much needed depth to our broadcast team. Our previous tenant in front of the mic has loads of experience and a great deal of knowledge of the sport of… basketball. It was a first class move by the organization to bring in somebody with knowledge of soccer and brings a vibrancy to his announcing that we lacked last year. I watched the link Ciscokid provided with a huge smile on my face. It is rewarding to a fan to hear such professionalism in the announcer and I pick up on his obvious excitement for the Sounders. Now Mr. White only needs a name change to Mr.RaveGreen.

Yeah DR, you’re right. I was at Qwest and my DVR has ESPN2.
I’ll give the video a watch, but before I do, I have just one thing to say about Sounders commentary – it’s called Soccer, not football.
As Sigi often says, “Our best soccer is ahead of us.”

I was listening to the audio over the Internet until my connection cut out around minute 65. He was just fine, though he had a bit of trouble with “Miglioranzi”!

Then again, maybe he was right and everyone else was wrong.
