Sounders FC has announced that it will play the Portland Timbers in the club’s inaugural “Community Shield” match at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 11 at Qwest Field. The Sounders FC will face the Portland Timbers of the USL in the pre-season training match.
General admission tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and will be priced at $10 for adults and $5 for youth (6-17).
The friendly will benefit Boys and Girls Club of Washington State, Save the Children, Seattle SCORES and Washington Youth Soccer.
Here’s the release from SoundersFC.com.
I hope this Charity event includes a budget for security. Not exactly the smartest friendly to schedule considering all the …uh… history between the two clubs.
