Keller watches alma mater go down to UW

My beats collide: Sounders FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller — a University of Portland alum — is sitting behind the Pilots’ bench as they go down in flames to 24th-ranked Washington tonight at Hec Ed.

Also in attendance is teammate Steve Zakuani.

Zakuani grew up in England and Keller played there for a while, so there was talk of a postgame introduction to the Huskies’ own Englishman: junior forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning. As it turned out, that didn’t happen tonight, but indications are that it will happen eventually.


Wizards seem confident of Kansas home

The Kansas City’s Wizards’ stop-and-start, off-and-on efforts to secure their own first soccer-specific stadium seem on again. Not fully official, but on again enough where they plan to start clearing the land … and that land will be in Kansas, not Missouri.

Keller on winter play, Seba, lockout

Sounders FC keeper Kasey Keller has a new and wide-ranging blog post out in which he says a public goodbye to Sebastien Le Toux, recalls his experiences with winter soccer, and even more chillingly reports that MLS players have been warned of “a probably lockout date” of Feb. 1.

Sounders expect 95 percent ticket renewal

The Sounders announced today that season-ticket renewals have reached 93 percent, and they expect that figure will rise to 95 percent.

The club is using the same seating chart as that of the playoff match versus Houston, which a ring of low upper-deck seats that bring the capacity of the stadium to approximately 35,500.
