Vancouver will keep “Whitecaps” name

Vancouver-Whitecaps This means they’ll be joining the Heritage Cup competition along with Seattle, Portland and San Jose.

However, the logo and kits will change.

Here’s the word from Canada.

Was there ever a doubt? I’m sure Portland will keep theirs as well. Heritage cup will be a 4-way competition next year. Very cool

There shouldn’t have been any doubt, but I think Vancouver worried some fans by not using the nickname in the release announcing their entry into MLS. I haven’t heard any similar uncertainty about Portland.

Couldn’t be happier about the logo re-design. We don’t need another San Jose-esque badge making our league look like a joke.
