I believe someone somewhere in our comments section discussed whether yellow card accumulation carry over into the playoffs.

So, I took the opportunity to ask Sigi Schmid this morning after Sounders training.

His answer:

“Yellow cards at this stage do not carry over. If somebody picks up their fifth yellow in this last game, he will be fined but it doesn’t carry over into a suspension for a playoff game. Red cards do [carry over into playoffs]. So we want to make sure nobody gets a red card in the last game.”
