A reminder of the time, dates and sites of the two soccer movies showing at the 2009 Tacoma Film Festival:

“Winning Isn’t Everything,” 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Grand.

A documentary featuring Mia Hamm and the most successful women’s soccer program in NCAA history (UNC has won 19 NCAA national championships in 27 years) will be shown at the Tacoma Film Festival at 6:30 pm on Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Grand Cinema. It is listed as one of the 2009 Top 11 Festival Must See Films by the Executive Director at the Grand Cinema on the Tacoma Film Festival website. You can also view a trailer for the documentary on their website.

“I Speak Soccer: A Documentary about the International Language of Pickup” at 2 p.m. Sunday at School of the Arts.

This around-the-world tour of language, culture, and play through the lens of “pickup soccer” won Audience Award at the 2009 Seattle True International Film Festival.

(I’d especially like to see this one, but the timing doesn’t work for me…)

    Schedule conflict:

    — reffing CC game

    — 2 pm Sundays is when the biggest local pickup mob does their thing.
