Chivas USA at Sounders, noon, Qwest Field, Fox Soccer Channel and usual radio.
It has dawned as a rainy Saturday morning. Here’s the forecast.
And here’s my pregame story from today’s paper.
And if you want an indication of how clustered things are in this MLS race — and how every point could count on the final day of the season — this is it: The Sounders could leap into a tie for first place in the MLS West, it they win today while Houston loses and Los Angeles loses or draws.
However, the Sounders were at least temporarily caught by Colorado last night. (See post below.) With a loss today they would certainly be passed by Chivas and could be caught by Toronto and Real Salt Lake.
Here’s the MLS match center, where you can watch all the scoreboards … some coach Sigi Schmid said yesterday that the Sounders can make a lot less necessary if they just take care of their own business:
“We control our (playoff) destiny,” he said. “It’s not a situation where we need to do this and somebody else needs to do this. If we get the points that we still have available to us, there’s 15 points out there for us still to get, so there’s enough points out there that we can get under our own power. We just got to get as many points as we can and then we don’t have to worry about anybody else.”
