DCU: Wicks behavior "was unacceptable"

josh-wicksThe Washington Post soccer blog reports D.C. United meeting goalkeeper Josh Wicks today and then putting out the following statement:

"D.C. United team executives and technical staff met today with Josh Wicks. During the meeting, it was expressed that his behavior in last night's U.S. Open Cup final was unacceptable and that he will be subject to internal discipline."

Wicks, of course, intentionally stomped the fallen Fredy Montero moments after the game's first goal. Wicks received a red card, but heatedly argued with the referee and fourth official before leaving the pitch.

"UPDATE: According to a source close to the situation, who requested anonymity because a decision hasn't been rendered, the discipline is not expected to include a suspension."

Absent a suspension- at least three games (through the 12th, and give Dallas and KC a shot)- anything DCU does is meaningless.

Don- thanks for moving the comment over!

I've posted my alternative punishment elsewhere, but will help christen the new blog and expand a bit. Wicks deserves real punishment, but we really need to bring all of Seattle sports into a mutually supportive relationship.

So- absent a good three game or more suspension, put Wicks in goal at Qwest, facing Randy Johnson and "Mr. Snappy", while fending off Kenny Easley. Repeat. Repeatedly.

Should fill Qwest- without no $2 beers. Proceeds to U.S. Soccer for youth development and morals/ethics instruction.

Also- I've enjoyed the websites popping up after the Sounders win, on the "we win trophies" theme. How about a big picture of Kasey Keller at something like http://www.wedontstomp.com or http://www.klassykeepers.com?

Gee, goalies from opposing teams don't seem to like Fredy Montero. What's that all about?

LeGarrette Blount wants to know when D.C. United is holding tryouts...

And now Blount is out for the season. While Wicks, well, I guess has been given a stern talking to.
