Earl Thomas tweets his own shoulder surgery today, facing estimated 6-8-month recovery

The clock will begin ticking tonight on Earl Thomas’ long recovery from shoulder surgery.

The Seahawks’ All-Pro safety is having a procedure done today to repair torn labrum from him dislocating his left shoulder early in the NFC championship Jan. 18. Thomas played that game and the Feb. 1 Super Bowl with the injury.

Then apparently doctors had to wait for swelling to calm down in these three weeks since the Super Bowl before operating.

How do we know Thomas had his surgery today? He just tweeted it:

Green Bay report: GM Schneider has out in Seattle contract should he someday be offered same job with Packers

Seahawks general manager John Schneider has roots that run deep in Green Bay — so deep, he reportedly has a clause in his Seattle contract that could allow him to leave if he is ever offered the Packers’ GM job.

Thanks to rodman here on the blog for pointing this out today. It is a tidbit inside a big story from Pete Dougherty, long-time Packers writer for the Green Bay Press Gazette, on the legacy of former Packers GM Ron Wolf.

The personable Dougherty spent the days before the NFC title game last month writing advance stories from Seahawks

“Moving ahead” Pete Carroll counseling Darrell Bevell, all Seahawks on criticism of how they lost the Super Bowl

The final, fateful directive Pete Carroll made in Super Bowl 49 just under three weeks ago was to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, to call a pass from the 1-yard line in the Super Bowl. It was a counter to New England bringing in a heavy set of defenders to stop the run with 26 seconds to play and the Patriots leading 28-24.

No need to remind you that Russell Wilson’s interception cost Seattle a second consecutive Super Bowl title. Since then: a non-stop torrent of national, even international criticism upon Carroll and Bevell for the worst call in

Pete Carroll: Seahawks negotiating for months on new deal for Marshawn Lynch. “I really think he wants to come back”

Pete Carroll says he believes Marshawn Lynch wants to return to the Seahawks for the 2015 and that the team has been negotiating for months with the 29-year-old running back’s representatives on a new contract.

Carroll, the final coach or general manager to speak at the NFL scouting combine, also said he will never get over the way Seattle lost this month’s Super Bowl to New England on its final offensive play from the 1-yard line, that Pro Bowl strong safety Kam Chancellor doesn’t need knee surgery and should be ready for the preseason,

Entire transcript of GM John Schneider today at NFL combine, including off-stage comments on Lane, Thomas surgeries

Any more news on offseason surgeries? “Well, Earl (Thomas) is going to have his (shoulder) surgery coming up. That’s probably our biggest issue. But it’s a normal procedure, so he should do well.”

No issues for him being ready for the start of the 2015 season? “No. Especially Earl. He attacks everything.”

Even start of training camp for Thomas? “You know, I’m not sure. We are going to monitor him and make sure we do what’s best for long term. He’s going to be scratching and fighting to get out there as soon as he can. But we just don’t

Seahawks announce promotion of Kris Richard to defensive coordinator; bring Lofa Tatupu back as asst LBs coach

The technician that has grounded the “Legion of Boom” in fundamentals will now get the chance to do the same with the Seahawks’ entire, top-ranked defense.

The team announced this afternoon what became known last week: the Seahawks have promoted Kris Richard from defensive backs coach to defensive coordinator. Richard replaces Dan Quinn, who left last week after two seasons on the job to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

“Kris, we go way back to his playing days at USC, as well as here. Kris has done an extraordinary job,” coach Pete Carroll said, days before the Super

Expect Marshawn Lynch to show at Super Bowl media day–and again not say much of anything

The circus is about to begin.

The Super Bowl’s annual media day free-for-all complete with questions from clowns, cross-dressers — and then the non-journalists — begins at 9:30 a.m. Seattle time. The Patriots go first inside U.S. Airways Center, the downtown Phoenix basketball home of the Suns.

This is the event where Marshawn Lynch looked like he did above last year in Newark, New Jersey — and uttered “I’m just ’bout that action, Boss.”

That is more than he will likely say today.

Expect the Seahawks’ star running back of less-than-few words to indeed show up for today’s even, with

He’s arrived: Jermaine Kearse stars on stage as Seahawks touch down at Super Bowl 49

Jermaine Kearse looked down from his exalted platform perch. Reporters from across the nation, Latin America and Europe were standing two-deep in a semicircle below him.

And the kid from Lakewood just smiled.

“Yeah,” Kearse said Sunday inside a tent at the Arizona Grand Resort. “It’s just a blessing.”

Less than three years ago no NFL team wanted him. At least not enough to bother drafting the former Lakes High School and University of Washington star.

Exactly 253 players got selected in the 2012 NFL draft. Only
