History says Steven Hauschka won’t notice PAT snaps moving back to the 15-yard line this season

NFL owners today approved a rule change of point-after-touchdown kick attempts now being snapped from the 15-yard line instead of the 2. That makes the 1-point try the equivalent of a 33-yard field goal.

Seahawks’ kicker Steven Hauschka hasn’t missed from the 30-39-yard range on a field goal since 2011. He is 52-55 from that range in seven NFL seasons.

Another rule change that came out of the league meetings in San Francisco also make the PAT ”live,” in that now the defense can return a blocked kick or a turnover on a two-point play for two points. Two-point conversion attempts

Long snapper Clint Gresham signs 3-year contract extension. We know because he Instragramed it

Steven Hauschka and Jon Ryan must be smiling.

The Seahawks’ kicking game is remaining intact.

That’s because its trigger man, long snapper Clint Gresham, has signed a three-year contract extension.

Jimmy Graham sees role as changing ways packed-in defenses play Seahawks; Stefen Wisniewski still visiting Seattle

Give Jimmy Graham credit. During the two days of flying his private plane to the gulf coast of Florida, having his career uprooted from the only team he’s known in New Orleans, having someone else fly him to the opposite corner of the country, passing a physical, meeting his new coach, general manager and Seahawks staff, seeing his new city of Seattle and then flying all the way back to Florida, he’s somehow found the time to internalize why he is the newest Seahawk.

Yesterday, on a conference call with Seattle-area reporters, the huge tight end with 171 receptions and 26 touchdowns

The Marshawn Lynch these Seahawks know is just having his own fun with everyone else

The Marshawn Lynch the Seahawks know is not the one the rest of America sees and hears. It’s not the Lynch that’s likely to have another standoff of some kind with establishment tomorrow here at the annual circus called the Super Bowl’s media day.

“Yeah, I think a lot of people misunderstand Marshawn,” teammate and safety Kam Chancellor said today at the Arizona Grand Resort, following the Seahawks’ first practice of Super Bowl week at Arizona State University in neighboring Tempe. “Just because he doesn’t want to talk to the media doesn’t make

Seahawks get 5–Sherman angry it’s only 5–in Pro Bowl. Bennett an alternate: “I’ll take the ring instead”

Richard Sherman is ticked — and he got picked.

Teammate Michael Bennett just got named as a mere alternate to the Pro Bowl — and says “I could not care less.”

“It doesn’t matter if you go to the Pro Bowl and your team is not in the Super Bowl,” Bennett said this afternoon, before the NFL announced the five Seahawks selected to this season’s Pro Bowl by votes of fellow players, league coaches and fans are Sherman, safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, linebacker Bobby Wagner and running back Marshawn Lynch.

Five more Seahawks were selected as alternates for

Seahawks’ defense says it needs to “clean up little things”; Pete Carroll’s so-so assessment of Terrelle Pryor’s exhibition finale

The Seahawks arrived back to team headquarters in Renton in the middle of the night following the kind of wild, 41-31 loss at Oakland in the exhibition finale. That game proved this:

*The starting offense — particularly Russell Wilson and the passing game — couldn’t be flying higher entering Thursday’s opener against Green Bay. Eleven scores in 13 preseason drives, the empty trips between the very first drive at Denver Aug. 7 when the offensive line was missing three starters and Wilson was just running to stay upright, and last week against Chicago when Steven Hauschka had a 53-yard field

When was the last time Seahawks WR Percy Harvin felt this fast? “Before college”

That was Percy Harvin talking about the state of the offense — “We are on schedule, for the most part” — following today’s practice at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center for Friday night’s third exhibition game against Chicago.

But that’s a mere tease to the rest of what the Seahawks’ game-breaker said today.

Harvin has looked almost supersonic at times this summer, his first practices since offseason surgery on his hip. He said earlier this month that he’s found “another gear.” It’s certainly higher than any he had last season. In 2013 he

“Turbo” Robert Turbin’s boost; Paul Richardson’s quick learning; Pete Carroll talking to NFL about officiating “points of emphasis”

Russell Wilson’s training-camp roommate took a huge step last night — 81 yards worth of steps in less than one half, in fact — toward becoming the Seahawks’ first option at running back behind Marshawn Lynch. But as you can see and hear above, Robert Turbin wasn’t about to claim any ground in the competition with Christine Michael to be the No. 2 runner.

As I noted here late last night/early this morning, coach Pete Carroll made it clear he doesn’t like Michael’s two fumbles in eight carries over two exhibition games. And
