Eli Manning’s lived what Seahawks and Russell Wilson are living right now; Lane activated, Schilling to IR

Eli Manning knows what Russell Wilson and the Seahawks are slogging their way through right now

Manning’s lived it. Twice.

“Well, I think the team faces challenges because you’re always going to get everyone’s best,” the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback of the Giants said before New York (3-5) arrived in Seattle for Sunday’s game against the defending-champion Seahawks (5-3).

“Everyone wants to go up against the most recent Super Bowl champion,” Manning said Wednesday from Giants’ headquarters. “So you can lose a few guys, have high expectations, and a lot of things can be asked of

By popular demand: Seahawks rookies Paul Richardson, Kevin Norwood enjoy post-Harvin rise

Good morning, as I depart Charlotte for the trip back to Renton for coach Pete Carroll’s day-after press conference this afternoon.

Part of the reason the Seahawks traded Percy Harvin to the New York Jets two weeks ago — besides the insubordination of refusing to come back into the loss to Dallas late in the game — was the team’s belief in rookie wide receivers Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood.

Sunday, everyone got to see why Seattle drafted them this spring in the second and fourth rounds, respectively — and why many of you here have been

Rookies Paul Richardson, Kevin Norwood suddenly growing up in Seahawks’ offense; NFL picks

Yet another domino effect of last week’s trade of Percy Harvin is the increased roles for rookie wide receivers Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood.

I know: Many of you on here are saying, “It’s about time!”

Richardson sees his initial, methodical easing into the Seahawks’ offense the same way he views his current, new role with the Super Bowl champions.

“Perfect.”

“I think I’ve grown a lot, just as far as how this team operates and functions in a real game,” the freakishly fast, rookie second- round draft choice from Colorado said this week, the Seahawks’ first full one since

Bryan Walters out, Doug Baldwin in for kickoff returns, Paul Richardson for punts Sunday at Carolina

As you can see and hear above, coach Pete Carroll was classy and with the proper perspective on this awful day in Western Washington. He began his post-practice comments at Seahawks headquarters today here in Renton with condolences and thoughts to the people of Marysville following the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School this morning that left two students dead.

As for the far less important matters of football games:

Doug Baldwin has gone from angry to featured to now, for Sunday’s game at Carolina, multi-tasked.

It appears the Seahawks’ wide receiver will be the

Russell Wilson on Percy Harvin, “there’s no division in our locker room,” and where he gets his confidence

Just filed my story for tomorrow’s News Tribune on Russell Wilson saying “Percy and I never had differences” and “there’s no division in our locker room,” in response to the media reports around the country this week that have claimed otherwise about the 3-3 Seahawks.

Here is all what Wilson said today before the outdoor practice at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center:

Russell Wilson: “Percy Harvin and I never had differences…Ignore the noise…There is no division in our locker room”

On his way out to practice this afternoon, quarterback Russell Wilson was more expansive than I expected him to be in addressing a national online report yesterday that there is division in the locker room, there is a rift in the Seahawks’ locker room between a pro-Wilson and anti-Wilson camp and that the now-traded Percy Harvin was “an accelerant” to that divide.

“There’s no division in our locker room. There’s none at all,” Wilson said behind a podium at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center here in Renton three days before Seattle (3-3) plays at Carolina (3-3-1). “If anything, I think

Doug Baldwin asserts himself; Richard Sherman on Seahawks: “The team is fine”

Doug Baldwin is becoming more than just the new, undisputed, No. 1 wide receiver with Percy Harvin shoved out to New York.

It’s been noticeable to me in the last couple weeks how assertive Baldwin has been publicly from inside a locker room national reports have been portraying as divided.

It was striking on Sunday in the minutes after the Seahawks lost 28-26 at the Rams.

As players filed in and out of the visitors’ locker room on the ground floor of the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Baldwin folded himself into a white, plastic chair in front of

Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell on Percy Harvin: “I was disappointed.”

Darrell Bevell has a unique perspective on Percy Harvin. He’s been the wide receiver’s offensive coordinator here with the Seahawks for the last two seasons and in Minnesota for Harvin’s first two NFL seasons with the Vikings, 2009-10.

“I was disappointed, you know. I was disappointed. I did have a history with him, and I thought it would be a different outcome. But I guess that’s just the way it went.

“I think we have a phenomenal atmosphere here. It’s led by Coach Carroll. I think he gives the guys great freedom to be who they want to be. I
