An extraordinary day at Seahawks headquarters, and in the NFL

Wednesday is the busiest non-game day of the NFL week. In Renton Pete Carroll has his weekly press conference. The opposing coach and star player have a teleconference with the Seattle-area media. Usually at about the same time all that is going on the locker room is open for interviews for the only half hour of the day, before a practice and then interview periods with assistant coaches.

Pete Carroll says he, and way he evaluates players, “will never be the same” in wake of Ray Rice domestic-violence case

Real life intersected with football today — as it has all week throughout the NFL.

Pete Carroll talked in a Seahawks team meeting today about the Ray Rice domestic-violence case, and how huge and impacting the issue is in our society.

Seattle’s coach then said he is changed forever, both personally and in the way he will evaluate and talk to players from now on.

Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith makes preseason practice debut; LBs getting back; LT/RT get new looks; rookie Richardson as KR?

The Seahawks’ linebacking unit — the core of their thudding defense — is getting back into form in time for the real season to begin.

Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Malcolm Smith practiced this morning in individual linebacker drills and some group work. It was his first practice since surgery in the spring to remove “loose bodies” in his ankle.
