Seahawks start only mandatory minicamp–but grounded inside team HQ for 1st 2 days of it

Spending almost all this week at Chambers Bay to help cover for The News Tribune what is shaping up to be a U.S. Open unlike the previous 114 golf championships.

But Thursday I will leave the golf for a day to be back at my usual post, at Seahawks headquarters in Renton for the team’s only mandatory minicamp before training camp begins at the end of July.

Roger Goodell, Marshawn Lynch after the Super Bowl–and how we in the media view Lynch and the NFL

Going through my phone photos to clear some memory space, I almost deleted this one before recognizing what it was: The biggest blow by of Super Bowl 49.

I was trying to talk to Lynch as the star running back walked out of the Seahawks’ locker room before the media was allowed into it. It was minutes after Seattle decided to not run Lynch from the 1-yard line on second down with 25 seconds left and the Seahawks trailing the Patriots 28-24 in the Super Bowl. Russell Wilson threw the ball instead — to New England’s Malcolm Butler for the

Marshawn Lynch: “I don’t know what y’all are trying to get outta me…it don’t matter what y’all think”

For his final act of his media obligations at Super Bowl 49, Marshawn Lynch wondered, “Why?”

Why are all the nation’s and world’s sports media obsessed with chronicling him of not wanting to talk? Of saying nothing?

That’s what the Seahawks’ running back asked a pack of cameras, recorders and curiosity chasers as he sat down on a platform inside a tent on the sprawling campus of the Arizona Grand Resort hotel this morning here in Phoenix. For the first 30 seconds or so, Lynch set a timer on his smart phone to 5 minutes.

Marshawn Lynch: “You know why I’m here” — oh, and “finally” back to football

Yes, Marshawn Lynch showed up again for his required session with the media this morning. And, yes, he again said next to nothing to mock the NFL’s policy of requiring him to be there in front of cameras and recorders.

A day after saying “I’m here so I won’t get fined” 29 times in less than five minutes, Lynch followed up with “Y’all know why I’m here” for parts of five minutes before he left his podium place inside a tent on the grounds of the Seahawks’ Arizona Grand Resort hotel.

Media day end run: Marshawn Lynch’s latest interview buzzwords are “I’m here so I won’t get fined”

Marshawn Lynch did just as we discussed on here this morning he would do at Super Bowl 49’s media day/theater of the absurd.

The event had clowns, puppets, an interviewer wearing nothing but a barrel and a cowboy hat, Richard Sherman salsa dancing and Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril summing it up perfectly with “This is nuts.” People paid $32 per ticket — $22 with a military discount. Many did so and sat in the arena’s upper deck.

Many got their tickets for free. How much would those folks have paid?

“To watch

(VIDEO) Richard Sherman salsa dances–smoothly–while stealing Super Bowl media day show

Now, for more Super Bowl media day wackiness…

Seahawks running back Christine Michael is on the right, waiting to ask a question to teammate Richard Sherman on behalf of a Spanish television network. Apparently, Michael was something of an interpreter.

And he asked Sherman to dance.

Not just any ol’ dance. A salsa jig partnering from his podium platform on the ridiculously crammed floor of U.S. Airways Center. With a striking young female reporter from the network.

Pretty smooth, eh?

Sherman stole the show, rising above the above the absurdity of this media

The Marshawn Lynch these Seahawks know is just having his own fun with everyone else

The Marshawn Lynch the Seahawks know is not the one the rest of America sees and hears. It’s not the Lynch that’s likely to have another standoff of some kind with establishment tomorrow here at the annual circus called the Super Bowl’s media day.

“Yeah, I think a lot of people misunderstand Marshawn,” teammate and safety Kam Chancellor said today at the Arizona Grand Resort, following the Seahawks’ first practice of Super Bowl week at Arizona State University in neighboring Tempe. “Just because he doesn’t want to talk to the media doesn’t make

Report: NFL fines Marshawn Lynch again as NFL unrolls blanket coverage on his every move

Amid deflated balls in New England, the NFL has fined Marshawn Lynch for grabbing his, well, you know …

ESPN reports this morning the league has fined the Seahawks star running back $20,000 for this act below at the end of his touchdown run that put Seattle ahead of Green Bay late in regulation of last weekend’s NFC championship game.

This brings Lynch’s fine totals for this season from the NFL to $131,050. He got docked $100,000 after national media complained about him not talking in the locker room immediately following Seattle’s loss
