Jimmy Graham’s versatility, rookie Tyler Lockett’s polish may affect crowded race for wide-receiver jobs

Conventional wisdom — plus anyone who saw the Seahawks’ offense try to throw the ball inside the opponent’s 20-yard line last season — said wide receiver would be the position Seattle upgraded first and most this offseason.

The Seahawks appear to have indeed upgraded. Starting with a tight end.

That’s what Jimmy Graham is by title. By actuality, he’s been split out wide the majority of his snaps the last few seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Now that the Seahawks have his unique size and versatility after trading center Max Unger and their first-round draft choice this year, they are

Former Huskies Kasen Williams, Jesse Callier, Mike Criste, Michael Hartvigson trying out; Kevin Smith on offseason roster

Yes, second-round draft choice Frank Clark is at rookie minicamp for the Seahawks, wearing number 55.

There’s a mini Huskies reunion here this afternoon at Seahawks headquarters.

Seattle has five guys who played at the University of Washington at its rookie minicamp that began today and runs through Sunday. Four are on free-agent tryouts:

*Kasen Williams, the big, physical wide receiver whose UW career was derailed by sloppy route running and then a broken leg and displaced foot bones. Last week he had an agreement on an undrafted free-agent deal with Cincinnati, but then failed his physical. So now he’s

First Seahawks “game” day since the Super Bowl

Good morning from Mile High country. Just arrived in Denver for tonight’s exhibition opener against the Broncos (6 p.m., channel 13, 710AM/97.3 FM). Sunny and warm here now, but a chance of thunderstorms by early this evening.

I was astounded at the number of buzzing Seahawks fans inside SeaTac Airport this morning heading here — in full-on, regular season-caliber 12th Man regalia — for a preseason game. If I had been more alert, or if it hadn’t been 5 a.m., I’d be posting pictures on here for you of the scene.

My game advance in today’s News Tribune profiled Brock Coyle, who

Pete Carroll: Seahawks starters to play some in Denver but kids will play “bulk”

The Seahawks just finished a walk-through practice without pads or helmets that lasted less than an hour — standard fare for a team that is boarding buses to Sea-Tac Airport within the hour for its flight to Denver for Thursday night’s preseason opener.

Coach Pete Carroll played coy when asked how long his starters will play in the psuedo-Super Bowl rematch with the Broncos.

“The starters will be out there for a while, but the bulk of the game will be played by the young guys,” Carroll said.

One starter you almost certainly won’t see in anything but his signature,
