Dawg Day at NFL draft: UW’s Danny Shelton 12th to Cleveland, Marcus Peters 18th to KC, Shaq Thompson 25th to Carolina

The photo above was the best — and most genuine — moment of the first round tonight. Nothing but happiness from, and for, Danny Shelton. For all he got through to be here.

Tonight is the first time Washington ever had three players taken in the first round of any NFL draft. That’s saying something for a program that won a national title in 1991, had some NFL talent for decades — and went 8-6 with those guys last season.

1. Tampa Bay: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State: Buccaneers do the expected, take the homestate guy from four hours

Jimmy Graham reaches out to 7-year old whose sobbing video after his trade to Seahawks went viral

Jimmy Graham just finished a darn snappy first five days as a Seahawk.

We’ve already talked about how he said all the right things and then some about Tuesday’s trade that first shocked him, then made him smile upon realizing he was headed not to some football outpost such as Jacksonville or Oakland but to “the best team in football.”

He wasn’t the only one shocked by his trade from New Orleans to Seattle. Saints fans were aghast. Especially this 7-year-old:

Jimmy Graham sees role as changing ways packed-in defenses play Seahawks; Stefen Wisniewski still visiting Seattle

Give Jimmy Graham credit. During the two days of flying his private plane to the gulf coast of Florida, having his career uprooted from the only team he’s known in New Orleans, having someone else fly him to the opposite corner of the country, passing a physical, meeting his new coach, general manager and Seahawks staff, seeing his new city of Seattle and then flying all the way back to Florida, he’s somehow found the time to internalize why he is the newest Seahawk.

Yesterday, on a conference call with Seattle-area reporters, the huge tight end with 171 receptions and 26 touchdowns

With Byron Maxwell leaving, Seahawks sign 30-year-old veteran CB Will Blackmon

It’s not a Williams. It’s not a Maxwell.

But the Seahawks have brought back a cornerback with a link to its recent past.

Below is official confirmation from the league’s transaction wire of Seattle’s signing 30-year old Will Blackmon to a free-agent contract:

Former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and Jacksonville released Blackmon last month to save about $980,000 against the Jaguars’ salary cap for 2015.

Blackmon was with Seattle for much
