NFL’s league calendar for 2015-early ’16 shows draft site TBD; Seahawks single-game sales info

The NFL today put out its list of key dates for the 2015 season stretching into the start of the 2016 league year. The draft will be April 28-30, but the league still hasn’t determined the site. This past spring it was in Chicago after decades of it being in New York.

Something tells me the draft will be in Los Angeles next spring, as a news-peg springboard for what by then will be the likelihood the Chargers, Raiders or Rams could be playing in L.A. beginning with the ’16 season.

Cliff Avril glad docs kept him out of Super Bowl’s final quarter: “Concussions aren’t anything to play with”

The Seahawks were on their way to enjoying a double-digit lead in Super Bowl 49. They were getting to quarterback Tom Brady enough to keep him and New England stuck on 14 points late into the third quarter of the Feb. 1 championship game.

Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn moved Michael Bennett inside from end to a tackle position for much of the game, and Bennett sped past New England’s rookie center Bryan Stork all night. Bennett had four hits on Brady. And the speed of fellow defensive end Cliff Avril coming off the other edge kept New England from totally

Marshawn Lynch: “Maybe it was good I didn’t get that ball” at end of Super Bowl, for he’d become “the face of the nation”

Is anyone really surprised the first extensive, public opinions from the always unpredictable Marshawn Lynch about him not getting the ball at the end of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl are coming from … Turkey?

But here’s what’s being lost amid Lynch telling a Turkish television network that he was expecting the ball on second down from the 1-yard line with 26 seconds left in the Super Bowl Feb. 1 and his Seahawks down to New England 28-24: Lynch publicly raising the question of whether we were all ready for him to be “the face of the nation” had he scored

Giving back: Garry Gilliam returns again to Milton Hershey, the remarkable school that made him

Garry Gilliam’s been at it again this week: Giving back to the remarkable school that gave him the opportunities to earn a scholarship to Penn State and eventually an unlikely place on the Seahawks.

By now you likely know his story, which, honestly, I cannot write about enough: A single, tremendously hard-working and proud mother raising Garry and his special-needs older brother in a bad part of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s capital city. Thelma “Vene” Shifflett sending her younger son away at age seven, alone to Milton Hershey School, a residency school down the road in Hershey founded more than a

“Moving ahead” Pete Carroll counseling Darrell Bevell, all Seahawks on criticism of how they lost the Super Bowl

The final, fateful directive Pete Carroll made in Super Bowl 49 just under three weeks ago was to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, to call a pass from the 1-yard line in the Super Bowl. It was a counter to New England bringing in a heavy set of defenders to stop the run with 26 seconds to play and the Patriots leading 28-24.

No need to remind you that Russell Wilson’s interception cost Seattle a second consecutive Super Bowl title. Since then: a non-stop torrent of national, even international criticism upon Carroll and Bevell for the worst call in

Ken Norton Jr. leaves Seahawks to be Raiders’ coordinator, Irvin says: “Players play and coaches coach. We will be fine”

The Raiders today made official what had been rumored for the last week: Linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. is leaving the Seahawks and the man who brought him into USC and NFL coaching, Pete Carroll, to become Oakland’s defensive coordinator.

Norton reunites with former Cowboys teammate Jack Del Rio, who recently became the Raiders’ head coach.

“Jack and I are old friends,” Norton told my pal Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News

It’s a boy: Richard Sherman and girlfriend Ashley Moss have their baby, four days after Super Bowl

The timing worked out for Richard Sherman better than the game result.

Four days after playing in an excruciating Super Bowl loss to New England while assured that his girlfriend Ashley Moss wasn’t yet going into labor and avoiding a potentially weighty decision whether to play, the Seahawks All-Pro cornerback announced today the birth of a little No. 25.

And the little

Report: Kam Chancellor says he was told he had torn MCL, couldn’t play in Super Bowl–before he did and reported today strong safety Kam Chancellor played Sunday’s Super Bowl 49 with what he was told two days before was a torn medial collateral ligament in

his knee.

Chancellor got a bone bruise on the left knee on the next-to-last play of Friday’s practice at Arizona State University in Tempe. The league’s pool report from the closed practice that day said Chancellor walked off the field without a limp but had the knee wrapped. He was listed as probable and played in the 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots two days later.
