The Seahawks’ versatile, increasingly valuable Will Tukuafu: “He lays the wood”

The snap counts from the win over the Rams on Sunday show how much more 285-pound fullback Will Tukuafu played — on defense, too. He’s proving to be a find since the Seahawks signed him off waivers from San Francisco midseason. Coach Pete Carroll praised his uniqueness yesterday.

“It’s such a rare accomplishment for anybody for it to happen. You can’t remember guys that can do stuff like this,” Carroll said. “He’s really good at it; he does a nice job. His effect has been obvious from the beginning. A 285 pound fullback? That’s pretty cool. And he lays the

The rapid rise of Tony Moeaki; Pete Carroll won’t hint on Seahawks’ imminent roster addition

Look at tight end Tony Moeaki on this list of snap counts from the Seahawks’ win at San Francisco.

Less than a month ago the former rookie starter with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2010 was home, unsigned as a free agent living off an injury settlement Buffalo had given him after the Bills put him on injured reserve at the end of the summer. Now he is getting 63 percent of the snaps on the offense of the surging Super Bowl champions in a huge game at

Seahawks snap counts from Sunday’s win over Arizona: More of Norwood, none of Super Bowl MVP

These numbers show an increase in snaps for Kevin Norwood, and indeed the rookie wide receiver had a home-run ball thrown by Russell Wilson to him. Arizona’s Patrick Peterson showed why he is one of the top cornerbacks in the league when he raced back while the ball was in flight and got his arm between Norwood’s as the ball arrived inside the 10-yard line to break up the play.

I expect Will Tukuafu’s snaps to increase at San Francisco. The 285-pound fullback and former 49er until a couple a weeks ago knows San Francisco’s defense better than any other

Needed: Seahawks bring back C Lemuel Jeanpierre, sign DT Travian Robertson from ATL practice sqd

That didn’t take long.

The Seahawks saw enough Sunday in Kansas City when the Chiefs steamrolled them for 190 yards rushing and they went nowhere on offense after center Max Unger got hurt. Less than 48 hours after that they brought back Lemuel Jeanpierre from an injury settlement to replace Unger. And they signed 304-pound Travian Robertson off the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad onto the active roster to try to help fill the huge void of Brandon Mebane being injured at nose tackle.

Jeanpierre sustained a neck injury at the end of the exhibition season. Seattle placed him

Seahawks place DT Brandon Mebane on injured-reserve (hamstring), ending his stellar season

The Seahawks have placed run-stuffing, blocker-devouring defensive tackle Brandon Mebane on injured reserve because of a torn hamstring, ending what had been a standout season inside for the eight-year veteran.

The team brought back tight end RaShaun Allen by signing him off the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad to fill Mebane’s place on the 53-man active roster.

The loss of Mebane comes five days before Seattle (6-3) plays at Kansas City (6-3), which has the NFL’s fifth-ranked rushing offense with All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles.

Mebane was having the finest season of his career before he

Snap counts for Seahawks vs New York; transcript of Pete Carroll from today

Here are the snap counts from Seattle’s 38-17 win over the New York Giants.

Note on offense how tackle Garry Gilliam was used 21 times as an extra tight end on running plays. Most of those came after fill-in starting tight end Luke Willson sprained his ankle early in the game and then No. 3 tight end Cooper Helfet’s sore knee flared up again.

Will Tukuafu got 17 snaps as Seattle’s new, 285-pound fullback. Coach Pete Carroll said today how impressed he was seeing the effects of Tukuafu thudding into defenders in the running lanes ahead of Marshawn Lynch. Expect

Seahawks snap counts from win over Oakland; TNT day-after chat 1pm PT today

Join me for our weekly News Tribune live, day-after chat today at 1 p.m. PT here on the blog.

Here are the snap counts from yesterday’s Seahawks win over Oakland. Notice how much more Paul Richardson played. Fullback Will Tukuafu is going to get more than 12 snaps in the coming games, methinks.

On defense, you can essentially break down the amount of time Seattle was in nickel, five defensive backs, by the percentages for middle linebacker Brock Coyle and nickel back Marcus Burley. This appears to be one of the only times this season Seattle was in base and

Pete Carroll, almost scoffing: No, Seahawks aren’t trading Marshawn Lynch

No, the Seahawks aren’t trading Marshawn Lynch.

No, we don’t hate him or think he’s useless.

No, you can’t believe everything you read and hear.

Yes, that is what Pete Carroll has to say about the latest round of apparently fabricated fun being debated across the country about the Super Bowl champions. This unsubstantiated one is saying the Seahawks want to either A.) trade their four-time Pro Bowl running back before Tuesday’s 1 p.m. Pacific Time league deadline, or B.) get rid of him as they did Percy Harvin after this season
