Big Wednesday

Happy Halloween folks. The Seahawks get back to work this afternoon, after Mike Holmgren has his noon press conference. Who practices and who does not will be a big thing to watch because on Monday Holmgren said that he expects everybody who sat out on Monday to practice, at least the ones without serious injuries. That includes Deion Branch, who has been out since the first half of the Pittsburgh game. DJ Hackett I thought was moving pretty well on Monday, so I don’t really think his return is an issue. But I am interested to see how the timing

Saturday travel advisory

The Tampa Bay trip is only the second venture into the Eastern time zone this season for the Seahawks and those of us who cover them. I’ll be leaving for the airport by 4 a.m. Pacific tomorrow (five hours from now … yikes) and making a connection before landing in Tampa sometime late Saturday afternoon. The plan will be to check in here upon getting situated in the hotel. “See” you then.

What to expect today

The Seahawks begin practicing in a couple hours. I’ll be on my way up there shortly. We have no locker-room access today because the team is traveling shortly after practice. We’ll pass along any updates from Mike Holmgren’s comments after practice, which should end before noon Pacific time. We’ll see if Chris Gray practices. Also: I recorded three audio files while making my way to team headquarters this morning. Those should show up in our podcast section in the near future (I’m not seeing them there immediately, but the should be here: offense, defense, free agents).

Programming note

The weekly picks are coming in the next hour or so, probably sooner. Our weekly conversation with Brock Huard is scheduled for around noon Pacific time, give or take a little. We’ll get that posted once the conversation is finished. We’ll also have a post-practice update sometime after 3 Pacific time. Just wanted to provide a heads up.

About to hit the road for Tacoma. I’ll check back here a bit later. Brock Huard wasn’t here today, so I’ll try to get him on the phone tonight for our weekly audio analysis. Podcast subscribers have a new batch of files to sort through. There weren’t surprises at practice today. CB Rich Gardner is wearing No. 25. We’ll get an updated roster together tonight.

Programming note

I’m heading home. That might be all from me tonight. Tomorrow is a family day, which means I’ll probably post fewer than two dozen updates. We have no access to the Seahawks until Wednesday. Look for our usual updates until then, without the access.

Pregame programming note

About to leave for the stadium. We’ll check in upon arriving in the pressbox. … We hope to have some more audio a bit later this morning. I’ll be previewing the Seattle game as part of the Broncos’ pregame show that checks in with people covering various games. … Again, please pass along links to any positive reviews of Bryant Gumbel as play-by-play man for NFL Network. I asked for those yesterday but so far no one has produced one. There has to be one somewhere, no? … Also: Sunday column here.

What to expect today

The Seahawks are scheduled to begin practicing at 11:45 Pacific time. They should be off the field between 1 and 1:30. We’ll have a report shortly thereafter. There shouldn’t be many surprises on the injury front. For the most part, they have known all week who would and would not be available. We might learn more about the availability of Floyd Womack and Itula Mili, but Mike Holmgren indicated Wednesday that the status of most guys is pretty much set.
