Report: Hawks to sign QB Nate Davis

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com is reporting that pending a physical, the Seattle Seahawks will sign quarterback Nate Davis.

The Ball State product was drafted in the fifth round by San Francisco in the 2009 draft, and released by the Niners in September to make room for Troy Smith as the team’s third quarterback. Davis spent the entire season on San Francisco’s practice squad.

UPDATE: Maiocco is now reporting that Davis will sign a futures contract, which locks him up for the 2011 season but does not affect this year’s roster. Seattle did the same thing last season when

CB Pinkard, OL Jeanpierre signed to active roster

The Seattle Seahawks announced this afternoon that they’ve added cornerback Josh Pinkard and offensive guard Lemuel Jeanpierre from the practice squad to the active roster.

The two players fill spots vacated by offensive guard Chester Pitts (head) and tight end Chris Baker (tight end) when they were placed on the season-ending, injured reserve list earlier this week.

Seattle could be looking at Jeanpierre to fill in as depth along the interior line if Sean Locklear cannot make it back and play on Saturday, with Stacy Andrews currently filling in at right tackle. Locklear has been attending to a serious family

Seahawks receiver Mike Williams had a smile on his face this afternoon. He confirmed earlier reports, stating he signed a 3-year contract extension with the Seahawks on Saturday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“I really wasn’t even thinking about it,” Williams said the agreement. “I was just thinking about having a good year and trying to play well, and everything else would take care of itself.

“And that’s exactly what happened.”

Hawks sign two LBs to practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks added to new players to the practice squad today, linebackers Michael Johnson and Vuna Tuihalamaka.

Johnson, a rookie free agent out of North Alabama, was signed off of Kansas City’s practice squad.

Tuiahalamaka is a rookie free agent out of the University of Arizona who was released by Indianapolis in September.

The Seahawks placed defensive end Derek Walker on practice squad/injured reserve.

Roy Lewis placed on IR, CB Brown signed off practice squad

It looks like cornerback Roy Lewis’ knee injury was worse than we thought. The Seahawks placed Lewis on injured reserve to day and signed cornerback Marcus Brown to the active roster.

Lewis is Seattle’s special teams captain and has played solid as a nickel back in passing situations, a position Seattle likely will fill with Jordan Babineaux. The move to activate Brown could be a sign that the team may still have some concerns with Marcus Trufant returning from back spasms that forced him out of the game against Atlanta.

Brown, a rookie out of Arkansas State, has

Hawks place Butler on IR, add OL Fanaika

The Seattle Seahawks officially placed wide receiver Deon Butler on injured reserve and used his vacant roster spot to sign guard Paul Fanaika from the Cleveland’s practice squad to the active roster.

Fanaika was drafted by Philadelphia in the seventh-round of the 2009 draft, spending his first 11 weeks on the Eagles practice squad before being signed to the Washington Redskins active roster on November 23.

Fanaika signed with the Browns on June 15. Seattle now has 11 offensive lineman on the

Hawks place TE McCoy on IR, add DE Geathers

The Seattle Seahawks placed tight end Anthony McCoy on the season-ending injured reserve with a knee issue. McCoy, a sixth round draft pick by Seattle in this year’s draft, had saw action in two games this season.

But Seattle had depth at tight end, carrying four on the active roster, including John Carlson, Chris Baker, Cameron Morrah and McCoy.

With a vacant spot on the active roster, the Seahawks claimed defensive end Clifton Geathers off waivers. At 6-foot-7, 300 pounds, Geathers was a sixth round draft choice by Cleveland this year. He was waived by the Browns during final

Hawks waive DE Wilson, Barbre

In somewhat of a surprise move, the Seattle Seahawks waived defensive end E.J. Wilson and guard Allen Barbre today.

In their place, the Seahawks signed defensive tackle Amon Gordon and offensive tackle Will Robinson.

Wilson was a fourth round draft pick for the Seahawks in this year’s draft, brought in to play strongside defensive end behind Red Bryant. However, Wilson had been active for only two games, and with Bryant placed on the season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury, Kentwan Balmer took over as the starter at the 5-technique, with Jay Richardson serving as his backup.

Gordon initially signed
