Seahawks top draft choice Frank Clark, kicked off Michigan’s team in November after DV charge: “Believe in me.”

The Seahawks rarely do the expected in the NFL draft. It’s how they have separated themselves with 36 wins in their last 48 games and reaching the last two Super Bowls, winning one.

They just did the unexpected — and already controversial — by drafting defensive end Frank Clark from Michigan with the next-to-last pick of the second round, at No. 63 overall tonight. It may be the riskiest, leap-of-faith pick in their franchise’s 39-year history.

Sure, Clark is 6 feet 2 and 277 pounds, described as having an explosiveness in pass rushing that Seattle loves. The Seahawks’ team

Will Seahawks trade up in today’s 2nd round. Better question: Why should they?

So now it’s day two, the Seahawks’ time to jump into the NFL draft after basking in the Jimmy Graham glow during last night’s round one. They have their initial pick right now at 63 overall at the bottom of the second round that begins at 4 p.m. Pacific Time, and then the 95th-overall choice near the end of round three tonight.

The talk now is: Will Seattle, with a league-high 11 picks, trade up higher in the second round today?

What might prompt general manager John Schneider to do that?

The popular buzz (for whatever that may or

Jimmy Graham sees role as changing ways packed-in defenses play Seahawks; Stefen Wisniewski still visiting Seattle

Give Jimmy Graham credit. During the two days of flying his private plane to the gulf coast of Florida, having his career uprooted from the only team he’s known in New Orleans, having someone else fly him to the opposite corner of the country, passing a physical, meeting his new coach, general manager and Seahawks staff, seeing his new city of Seattle and then flying all the way back to Florida, he’s somehow found the time to internalize why he is the newest Seahawk.

Yesterday, on a conference call with Seattle-area reporters, the huge tight end with 171 receptions and 26 touchdowns

Paul Allen trumpets Jimmy Graham arriving, passing physical; honoring the AP’s late Dave Goldberg

How big a deal is Jimmy Graham’s arrival in Seattle?

Seahawks owner Paul Allen, not usually one to get into the procedural nuances of player transactions while he’s out unearthing sunken battleships off ocean floors, last night trumpeted the team’s next step in completing Tuesday’s stunning trade that brought the three-time Pro Bowl and 2013 All-Pro tight end to the two-time defending NFC champions:

I’m going to assume (always dangerous makes a

Still buzzing over Jimmy Graham; more on salary cap, Lynch deal + Wilson, Wagner extension talks

On the day after the trade that surprised the league, and there is still a buzz around the team for getting New Orleans’ 2013 All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham.

“It’s a big deal for us, everybody in this building,” Seahawks general manager John Schneider said this morning from the team’s Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton on Seattle’s 710 ESPN radio.

“He makes everybody better.”

Schneider told the station Graham was chillin’ on a beach on the west  coast of Florida yesterday when he got call of trade that also nets Seattle a fourth-round choice in next month’s draft from New Orleans

Seahawks’ offseason plans crystallize with Marshawn Lynch signed; what is going down in Santa Clara?

The first domino the Seahawks needed to fall to set their offseason plans fell late Friday afternoon: Marshawn Lynch agreed to return for $12 million guaranteed this year as part of a new, two-year contract extension he signed at team headquarters in Renton. The deal got done during a meeting between him, his agent, Seahawks general manager John Schneider, coach Pete Carroll — and even owner Paul Allen.

Now the Seahawks know they don’t need to sign a lead running back when the free-agent signing market opens tomorrow. They can keep their primary targets at cornerback, including among Tramon

Official pool report: Chancellor “remarkably looked good today” at Seahawks’ final pre-Super Bowl practice

It’s a festive, packed scene this afternoon in downtown Phoenix; 10 times more people here than yesterday. I’d estimate 80 percent of them are wearing Seahawks gear.

Fans are chanting “SEA!” from one side of streets, with an automatic “HAWKS!” response from the opposite sidewalk. All day long.

Even the weather is making Seattle-ites feel at home: mid-50s, steady rain that just ended.

Below is the NFL’s official pool report from the Seahawks’ indoor, light practice today at Arizona State. The NFL closes Super Bowl practices to all but one reporter for each team appointed by

The rapid rise of Tony Moeaki; Pete Carroll won’t hint on Seahawks’ imminent roster addition

Look at tight end Tony Moeaki on this list of snap counts from the Seahawks’ win at San Francisco.

Less than a month ago the former rookie starter with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2010 was home, unsigned as a free agent living off an injury settlement Buffalo had given him after the Bills put him on injured reserve at the end of the summer. Now he is getting 63 percent of the snaps on the offense of the surging Super Bowl champions in a huge game at
