An NFL source with knowledge of the imminent transaction has confirmed to The News Tribune what Pro Football Talk reported earlier this evening, that the Seahawks will release quarterback Terrelle Pryor when they announce their final cuts to get to the league-mandated 53-man roster for the regular season by 1 p.m. Saturday.

The source requested anonymity because the Seahawks have not announced the move.

It means Pryor will go on league waivers, free for any of the other 31 teams to claim.

A Seahawks spokesman said on Thursday night in Oakland that there will be no announcements on any roster moves until after Saturday afternoon’s deadline.

Later Friday night, Pryor tweeted his Seattle goodbye to confirm the move, too — with class:

The move will mean trusted and popular 10-year veteran Tarvaris Jackson will be Russell Wilson’s backup for the second consecutive season.

Jackson has a contract guaranteeing him $1.25 million this season; it ends after this year.

Pryor has one year remaining at a base salary of $705,000 on the four-year deal he signed with the Raiders in 2011. Any team that would claim him off waivers would pick up his contract.

Seattle acquired the former Oakland starter for parts of three seasons ending last fall for a seventh-round draft choice this offseason. Coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell were intrigued with the 25-year-old former Ohio State star’s athleticism and creativity. But he often lacked accuracy on even the most basic of throws in practices and in four wildly up-and-down exhibition games this month. Bevell had been trying to get him to be more patient finding receivers downfield while scrambling rather than immediately taking off to run.

Tonight’s news comes about 24 hours after the most productive game of his now-failed, four-exhibition trial with the Seahawks. He completed 11 of 17 passes against his former team, including a 33-yard touchdown pass to Phil Bates after Pryor looked off the safety away from that side of the field. That play finished an 87-yard drive in a 2-minute drill during which Pryor looked like an NFL starting quarterback.

But at other times Thursday in Oakland, he looked a long way from one while being unable to make the simple play. On fourth and 3 in Raiders territory in the third quarter, he had Bryan Walters breaking open 5 yards down the middle of the field. He threw it 10.

Carroll was noticeably — and as it turns out, revealingly — blah when I asked him following the game, “What impressed you about Terrelle Pryor’s performance?”

It admittedly was a leading question, yet he didn’t go far at all down the praise route, as he had for most of this month. No specifics, either.

“He made some plays,” Carroll said, flatly and without his usual elaboration. “He battled really hard to give us a chance.”

Pryor seemed to sense his place in Seattle was in jeopardy last night, when he was less than decisive upon being asked to assess his preseason.
“I don’t even know,” he said.

“It’s not really my decision to really say what I played like. It’s up to the coaches.”

And now they have decided.

The imminent move means the Seahawks are more likely to keep perhaps as many as six wide receivers — it improves Walters’ chances of making the team as a punt returner — or extra offensive of defensive linemen, perhaps guard-center Stephen Schilling or defensive tackle Greg Scruggs.

The Seahawks could still keep three quarterbacks by putting B.J. Daniels on the active roster. But there are more pressing needs for depth at other positions that would preclude them for keeping both Daniels and Jackson behind Wilson.

  1. Dukeshire says:

I think Scruggs was safe regardless, but do agree this bode well for Walters’ chance. Or its at least better.

  2. Good. All this weird hype and talk regarding Pryor (he’s too athletic, he’s a project for future backup, use him in trick plays, wildcat, etc.) None of it made any sense to me when you look at coach Pete’s offensive philosophy history. He wasn’t just gonna change it up because they had a very athletic player trying out for a back-up QB position…Anyways….Go Hawks.

  3. ChrisHolmes says:

Well, that sounds about right. I thought he was gone after his comments following game 3. He just didn’t show enough to merit being a 3rd QB on a stacked roster.

    Good for whoever becomes #53.

Can’t wait for the real games. So excited that Seattle gets to open on Thursday night.

  4. Dukeshire says:

Chris – No kidding. Admitting you’re not ready to play? That was stunning to me.

  5. jawpeace says:

Good I am glad. Not for Pryor, you got to feel for all these guys getting cut from their lively hood and dream. I am glad that another player who I think will add more value to the team will make the roster.

  6. Hubrismh says:

Like I predicted, easy call. Smh

  7. DanielleMND says:

I hope they keep Daniels. I think we’ll be fine with two QBs, but I’d like to see him kept around in the system as a potential #2 for 2015.

  8. Hubrismh says:

They’ll be drafting a QB next year at 6 or so. Unless they grab a good cut guy.
It will be very interesting tomorrow to see who gets grabbed, and who else gets cut.
Brutal time of year for the bubble crew…

  9. Duke, I think it stunned a lot of people. Maybe he knew then and just didn’t care. Oh well. Now I hope Walters makes it because I think he adds value to several aspects of our team.

  10. Singularitarian says:

I was one saying they’d keep him. After his last 2 games I’m not real surprised though. I agree those comments didn’t help, nor his play. If he showed up in those games I think he makes the team. So what I’m still usually 95% right SMH :)

  11. Ray_Maines says:

I think BJ Daniels and Cooper Helfet will both be cut and the ‘Hawks carry only two QB’s and two TE’s (BJD could be a practice squad guy). The extra roster spots go to a D lineman and Kevin Norwood.

This isn’t any sort of monster revelation or anything, but I don’t really care if STL or the 49er’s sign TP. It’s not like he’s going to lead either of those teams to some sort of comeback victory against the ‘Hawks any time soon.

  12. PLUHawkFan says:

Seriously? Dude, why are you here? Quite trolling our board and crawl back into the woodwork will ya? We don’t mind dissenting opinions here and other viewpoints. But the vast majority of your posts over the last couple of weeks have been very Trollesk… if thats even a word.

You’re veiled insults are getting old…

    Take a hike…..

  13. PLUHawkFan

You are the one who looks bad in this thread. Hubrismh may have done something wrong in some other thread, but he didn’t do anything wrong in this one.

  14. Ray_Maines says:

Most teams (and fans of those teams) over value their own players. Truth is, most players who get cut don’t get picked up. Why? Even the Browns and Raiders over value their own players. That’s why they’re bad.

  15. Hubrismh says:

Care to expand on that? I think you’re about 98%full of something! but I don’t know why? Perhaps you don’t understand my existence….smh…

  16. Hammajamma says:

I think this means they carry Irvin rather than PUP him.

  17. I think PLU is a little too slow to get that Hubrismh is trolling Yankinta. Seems obvious to me. But, whatever.

  18. PLUHawkFan says:

Your right, I’ve let certain posters get under my skin as of late. Thus not taking much for them to irritate me. One of his posts above was annoying (to me) but because I’ve been letting them bother me.

I humbly apologize, My post made me look as bad as a Troll. *Takes out his Troll stick and smacks himself.

    *Sorry all……

  19. Hubrismh says:

I think Norwood and Irvin Hamma. They are both very close to returning… But Norwood for sure. This is 98% a surety. Remember harvin thought he was back from his hip surgery too, but ended up needing about 6 more weeks?

  20. Isn’t it obvious that Hubrismh is trolling Yankinta? That shouldn’t bother any of you who are annoyed by our our little yanker.

Look at the name. What does Hubris mean? Look it up. The “smh”? Who types that after almost every post? You know who. Notice how Hubrismh adds a percentage of certainty on every post? Who else is known for that? It’s so obvious it’s, well, really obvious.

So why get annoyed at a troll who is trolling the other (semi) troll?

  21. PLUHawkFan says:

Because a troll is a troll is a troll in my book :) *Grin…

It’s not just him, i’ve noticed some others coming around lately. There is someone trying to impersonate Georgiahawk and some others. Call it being in a bad mood. Either way I was wrong…

    Again.. I apologize.

  22. PLUHawkFan says:

This week was crap at work too… I’m usually really good at letting stuff go. (Especially since that’s a principle to recovery I teach) But hey I’m human!!!

Maybe I’m just being impatient for Real Football games too…..
    Can I plead temporary insanity?

  23. It was an interesting experiment with Pryor, but we’ve got bigger issues to straighten out. D-line rotation will be interesting. And o-line backups.

  24. You don’t have to apologize PLU. As long as we beat the Packers.

    30-10 Seahawks win.

  25. I’m excited about the offense this preseason. I really think the Hawks will be a top five offense by the end of this season with the continued growth of RW and the explosiveness of Percy. With our tough schedule I see us losing one more game than last year but still winning the division and making a return to the SB. Go Hawks!

  26. Hubrismh says:

No worries PLU, I’m impervious to insult, nothing rattles me. :)

  27. I think I want to change my guess to 43-27 Seahawks win, after seeing the very important pre season games.

  28. sluggo42 says:

The game makes me nervous, but I feel good about it, especially with the starting nose and center out for the pack. But make no mistake, they are loaded offensively and they will score. The key will be to out score them in a high scoring affair. Our offense is stroking right now and I don’t think their defensive backs can handle our WRs. But remember, Clay Mathews is a beast who totally owned our line during our last meeting.

If we can contain him, I think we win a shoot out.
    I will say

  29. sluggo42 says:

Oh, did I mention I’m going to the San Diego game??

Who hooo! Gunna wear my #12 with my name sewn in back too. I hope there aren’t any Raider type of fans there

  30. Represent Seattle sluggo42! Have fun.

  31. tealskin says:

After that last game its hard to know what to expect from the defense. We can count on Rodgers, and GB, to be better than Carr. RW and the gang better be ready to light it up cause I have a feeling the other guys will be.

  32. Southendzone says:

I think B.J.D gets picked up and doesn’t make it to the practice squad.

Helfet is a tough call, I think they like him, and he too might not get to the P.S. depends a lot on how injured he is

  33. jawpeace says:

Just read the Hawks have also released Kiro Small. No surprise here. Perhaps he is a good candidate for the practice squad.

  34. juliusvrooder says:

PLU- For what it’s worth, and I am usually just a lurker here, I am very impressed with you tonight. Way to own your stuff. You rock.

  35. AZBubba71 says:

San Diego is way too mellow of a town to worry about “Raider types”. I’m going to that game too! Two of us road tripping from Phoenix to SD and a third friend flying down. Staying for three nights in the gaslight district…just hoping to survive (us, not the Seahawks).

  36. Very classy adios by Pryor.

  37. Macabrevity says:

If I’m Cleveland, St. Louis, Minnesota, I snag Pryor immediately to battle for the starting spot, I can think of another 10-12 teams that could really upgrade their back-up spot with the guy too.

  38. LarryLee says:

Pryor was an interesting experiment but his comment about not being ready to play says it all. That one extra roster spot will go to someone who deserves to be here and who now won’t be a victim of the numbers game. Wish we could hide them all.

  39. oldtallguy says:

There will be a lot of 12s in San Diego. Just bought me a really nice 11 Jersey to wear, Praying I don’t throw it in the trash in the next couple days.

  40. montanamike2 says:

I think Pryor worked his way out of a job, he had me at games 1+2, he lost me when he opened his mouth and played poorly in games 3+4. If that’s your career in jeopardy, you can’t be “not ready” when your name is called. I was sure he was our backup of the future, but he didn’t seem to care. I wash my hands of him, experiment failed. He should have been willing to change positions, not much more than Tebow really.

  41. GeorgiaHawk says:

Pryor’s separation was lack of preparation.

  42. Not surprised.

Best of luck to Terrelle….. I have no doubt that he would upgrade some teams QB#3 or maybe even #2 spot.

  43. WiscCory says:

Since the Hawks won’t announce until this afternoon, though it interesting to note Burleson will make the Browns. First NFL player to be both, an active player and a member of AARP.

Also, the Giants released Kellen Davis. He has hands of stone, and forever etched himself in Seahawk highlight lore by dropping the pass Coleman hauled in against the Saints on Monday night.

  44. GeorgaaHawk says:

When you’re so cloying, people find you very annoying.

  45. ChrisHolmes says:

    @Duke I was stunned too.

I thought when they got him for a 7th, that would fire him up. “Hey, the Seahawks want me!” I thought that might light the fire under him, you know? And having Russell Wilson to emulate and learn from? I mean, who is more prepared than Russ?

And then to come in totally unprepared for a pre-season game… That’s the opposite of Russ.

And really, the opposite of how your backup QB is supposed to operate. The whole point if being a backup is being perpetually ready.

Pryor, sadly, did this to himself.

Yet another “athlete” who is missing it.

  46. sluggo42 says:

    Exactly Holmes,
Lump him in with fat Bowie, dudes with a real chance at sticking on the best team in the league, but “duh-ing” their way right out the door.

We never really saw much of Kiero, I guess he just wasn’t a piece that fit into the board.

  47. SandpointHawk says:

This is unfortunately keeping with his history. Go back and read some of the articles about the scandal at Ohio State he was involved in and his statement won’t surprise you at all. The most surprising thing about his time here was his gracious “Thanks Seattle tweet”…

  48. chuck_easton says:

Burleson was released by the Browns this morning. Time to apply for all those AARP benefits.

  49. Dukeshire says:

Plus – He’s making fun of yak. His posts are sarcasm.

  50. Dukeshire says:

    Plu. Damn auto correct

  51. chuck_easton says:

So, aside from Pryor which has been confirmed and the rumoured and not unexpected release of Small, that leaves a whole lot of ‘fun’ for us to argue about for the next 5 hours.

I think they should cut Wilson. He’s too short to be an NFL QB.

They should trade Harvin for a conditional 7th rounder if any team would be crazy enough to give us that.

Lynch can take one of those veteran spots on the practice squad.

The entire LOB will be traded to the Montreal Alouettes for a case of Maple Syrup, and a couple of pounds of good Canadian Bacon.

There now. I’ve gotten rid of 7 or so ‘dead weight’ players.

  52. chuck_easton says:

Oh, is it too early to be drinking? Sorry.

  53. Dang! Chuck on fire early on a Saturday morn….way to get after it Mr. Easton

  54. Fat Bowie gets the door pretty quick, but fat Carp gets to hang around, and around and around…..

  55. I like maple syrup.

  56. chuck_easton says:

Remember, Carp as a 1st rounder had a guaranteed contract for the 1st three years.

This is the first year of his four year contract that is not fully guaranteed. And he’s only costing 1.2 Million this year. That more than his play is why he’s still here.

  57. Yes – I know Chuck.

I wonder if the same will apply to Jordan Hill? Until this last preseason game he did very little (that I noticed) to earn a spot. But his draft status may keep him around like Carps did.

  58. Jordan Hill has lots of contract remaining…..

  59. chuck_easton says:

The big question on Carp will be what do they do with him next year?

Say he plays lights out since this is now a contract year. Do you take the chance and give him the big payday? Do you let him take his talents to some other team?

I see Carp as another potential Andre Smith of the Bengals. He was out of shape, held out his rookie year, never played great when he did play, and suddenly had a monster career year in his contract year. He got the big payday and has reverted back to being fat, lazy, and not much good.

  60. Hubrismh says:

I don’t see why we dint trade Pryor for Luck, they are equal in talent. Smh with a few years of seasoning behind RW, luck would have matured into a decent back up QB, and that I’m 98% sure of… Smh :)

  61. GeorgiaHawk says:

Small played his heart out in the last game.
I hope he gets another chance somewhere.

  62. Hammajamma says:

Carp is still here because he’s a mountain of a man and the best LG option they have. With injuries hopefully behind him and the added motivation of a contract year, I actually expect him to play pretty well. If Okung can get it dialed in, Marshawn should spend a lot of time running left.

  63. GeorgiaHawk says:

Wow I bet Yankinta is laughing his A$$ off.

Who would have thought he could affect so many folks on a blog even on the weekends when he is not here.

This is the very definition of living inside someones head.

Makes for interesting entertainment sometimes when I’m trying to sort through & get to a post or two I can actually learn something from.

  64. Of course Hubris is mocking Yak. But if one Yak is annoying at times, two of them are worse. And Yak is not the only on this blog full of himself…he just doesn’t have a posse here like some others.

  65. I’m hoping Small makes it to the practice squad. Really don’t see why he wouldn’t. Any more rumors out there?

  66. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Well said PHXHawk!

TomIPDX, I’m hoping for small to make it too on our PS.

Just went over to fieldgulls (as they are usually the first with news) & didn’t see anything new except a tweet that former Seahawks Vickerson was cut by the Broncos.

  67. Gregg Bell says:

For those who didn’t see it, a classy exit from Pryor:

He tweeted this last night on @TerrellePryor, below a picture of him #2 in Seahawks’ write jersey running against the Raiders Thursday night:

“Being in Seattle was an amazing experience. Great coaches, tech people , equipment management ! Blessing ! “

  68. I notice that TP didn’t mention any players.

  69. WiscCory says:

The news I’m anxious for is whether Irvin is on IR or not.

If not, he’ll be useless the first 3 to 4 games.

  70. Strawdog says:

Bring your playbook, coach wants to see you..

Most of us have been laid off at least once,
    not a nice feeling.

  71. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Thanks Gregg.

Listening to the Raiders announcers the other night they were impressed by the improvement of Pryors play since last year in Oakland.
I think those that have actually been following Pryor for awhile can see that.
Perhaps he will get another chance.

I hope he keeps getting better because he is a joy to watch.

Also does anyone here remember Jackson’s classy (or not so classy) exit when he was traded to the Bills?

  72. hawksqb3 says:

This Pryor release isn’t news. Great athlete, but not a quarterback. Wish him the best though.

I think the biggest surprise has to be Walters. I think he’s earned a spot on this roster. He’s shown his return skills to be a huge asset for this team. I’m okay with ET returning some punts in big games or situations, but there will be many games where we don’t need to over expose him to injury. Same goes with Percy, in my opinion. I think we stack 7 receivers on this roster – Harvin, Richardson, Baldwin, Kearse, Lockette, Norwood and Walters, with the latter 3 being top ST guys.

  73. Southendzone says:

People really hanging on to that quote after The Chicago game by Pryor.

I don’t put much stock in that comment at all. It is hardly the reason he didn’t make the team.

At which point did him thinking he wasn’t going to play negatively impact his performance? Did he dog it in practice the whole week, mentally tune out during the 1st 3 quarters, or what?

More likely he felt bad that he performed poorly and said the first thing that came to mind.

  74. taxspecialist says:

I hope Small makes our practice roster. I still think it is likely Lockette or Walters and not both. I think the kickoff coverage drop is significant and Carroll will play Thomas as a punt returner so Walters will be out. The only chance I see of keeping both is to have Norwood go on IR as otherwise I think he will make the 53. Many of our cuts will be picked up and the depth of the roster is a good problem to have. What I find interesting is the question of years remaining at low salary/contract and potential versus player today. If the drop off is not that significant the Hawks are at the point where they really have to consider the future for the non starters.

  75. GeorgiaHawk says:

Things won’t change much from the end of last year if Irvin is useless in the first three to four games.

I hope he gets things together this season.

(Big if) but if one of our first round picks (Carp,Okung & Irvin) can stay healthy & play at a first round level I would consider that a success imo.

Two of them doing that would be a dream come true.

All three of them doing that would be like winning the lotto.

  76. montanamike2 says:

    I’d like to keep Bates.

  77. I’m hoping for Bates, Bronson & Small on the ps.

  78. And B.J.D.

  79. I put stock into that quote because of his history dating back to college. Excuses like that are unacceptable, IMO. I do find it funny that some “knew” Pryor was going to get cut. I doubt Mr. Happy and Bo “knew” they were going to cut him when they traded a pick for him. Good to know some fans are smarter than they are.

  80. I hope Biggie makes it to the practice squad too.

  81. DreadHawks says:

Carrol may see someone on the cut wire he likes so we might see a surprise….or two. Whos going on Thursday? I can’t wait! Go Hawks!!

  82. Field of Gulls has Offensive tackle Eric Winston has reportedly been released

  83. GeorgiaHawk says:

Tapp has been cut by the Lions.

  84. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Thanks pnwfan.

I wouldn’t doubt if we pick up a couple better O-lineman after the cuts.

  85. GeorgiaHawk says:

Morrah & the Konz cut by Denver.

  86. MikeFromNewJersey says:

The suspense is killing me. Can’t we just release the the list.. So far all we know is Winston, Small and Pryor.

  87. montanamike2 says:

Didn’t see the Winston cut coming.

  88. montanamike2 says:

Glad to see Britt is working out.

  89. I could see us signing C. Morrah.

  90. I guess that opens a spot up for us to bring in another O-lineman from the cut wire. I thought Winston was a good depth guy, guess not. I think we keep Schilling though, just to free up Lem as our only backup C and letting him move to either G position as well.

  91. GeorgiaHawk says:

Interesting rumor that I saw posted elsewhere about Winston’s release.
As president of the NFLPA could Winston have played a part with regards to Carroll’s practice violations?

  92. By releasing Pryor, the Hawks reclaim the 7th rounder from the Raiders. I wonder if they still have to give up the pick if they re-sign him after releasing him, altho0ugh I doubt he’ll be available.

I work a couple blocks away from the CLink and I’m trying to decide if I want to be in the neighborhood Thursday. It’s going to be a madhouse and next to impossible to get out of my parking garage.

  93. Stantak, leave your car in the parking garage and walk to the game!

  94. montanamike2 says:

Cool, we keep the 7th rounder.

  95. As I wait for “the list”, I went and watched the Texas Aggies v. SC Game Cocks from Thursday night (had to watch my Hawks!). Wow, I think A&M is going to be better without Johnny M! Our new QB, sophomore Kenny Hill, was very impressive. The football season is back!!!

  96. Kenny Football

  97. Yeah, saw that Johnny was referring to him as Kenny Football. Kenny doesn’t want to have anything to do with it though, saying he doesn’t really like it. He also wants to create his own persona and get out of JM’s shadow

  98. Fieldgulls is reporting that WR Arceto Clark has been released

  99. SandpointHawk says:

RE:Rumor Control….As president of the NFLPA could Winston have played a part with regards to Carroll’s practice violations?

Winston signed with the Seahawks on July 29th

The Seahawks were fined for too much contact during a June 16th practice.

  100. Hubrismh says:

Pssshh Bobby, I knew he was going to be cut, he is horrid. Everyone could see that. At least 98% of us.

I even knew Winston was going to be cut too, he was weak too…

It’s sorry being in here when I know so much more then everyone else, later…. Smh…

But really, it’s very hard to be a hubris, so this experiment, like the Pryor experiment is over…

  101. sluggo42 says:

    Ok, see ya then…smh haha.
Georgia! I saw last thread that you farted at your TV. I think that’s a safe move, but I would advise against lifting the leg with your disgust. The results could be shocking!

  102. PLUHawkFan says:

So who will the biggest surprise cut? If “unofficial list” is correct, I would say Winston is that guy at the moment. But we have many more players to drop yet.

Who will we pick up off waiver wire?
Who is the guy “we pray” squeaks through to the practice squad?

50min till cut time.. Whats your guesses guys?

  103. PLUHawkFan says:

And I’m still looking for that darn edit button…..

  104. PLUHawkFan says:

Or better yet (So peeps can’t go back and edit old posts and make crazy claims about predictions) How about a “Preview” button before post goes live?

Allow us to see if links we create are working right, and to re-read our post before it goes live. I know my brain is slow at times, I just didn’t realize my fingers were so damn fast :P lol

  105. sluggo42 says:

A question to one of the smart guys, when the cut list for all teams is released, is there any type of pecking order as to who can sign who? Like does every other team get to have a shot before we do, or can we talk to anyone as soon as they’re cut?
If a guy gets cut, and if two teams invite him in, does it just go to the highest bidder?

  106. ChrisHolmes says:

Colts also trade DB Marcus Burley to Seattle Seahawks for a 6th rd pick in 2015… per Colts Twitter.

  107. MoSeahawk12 says:

    From ESPN for Georgia.

“J.R. Sweezy: It seems safe to say now that Sweezy is a quality guard who used to play defensive tackle, instead of being a college DT who is learning to play guard. Now starting his third NFL season, Sweezy has manhandled defensive linemen in the preseason. “

  108. GeorgiaHawk says:

Are you really going to post something that shows you either don’t know how to read a username or perhaps you do & want to troll along with it?

  109. sluggo42 says:

    Lol Georgia

    ‘Twas fun…

  110. GeorgiaHawk says:

    So what’s your point Sandpoint?

Other than the obvious that Winston wasn’t on the team when the fight occurred.

The fine was given long after both those dates & much has happened that we TNT GMs don’t know or will know.

    Thus appropriately called a rumor.

  111. PLUHawkFan says:

Since I got myself into trouble yesterday. *Passes off his Troll (_!_) kicker stick to GeorgiaHawk”

I know you’ll use it wisely sir ;)

  112. sluggo42 says:

    Oh crap,
Now I see, which is funnier yet

It’s kinda like a tribute band I guess. I don’t look at the user name that well I reckon.

  113. PLUHawkFan says:

Seahawks release DE Benson Mayowa and LB Korey Toomer. Per Field Gulls….

  114. GeorgiaHawk says:

Sluggo if your idea of fun here is to troll folks or to jump on the back of trolls for kicks than why don’t you go over to ESPN.

I frankly don’t appreciate this & ask you to either stop your trolling & have something of substance to say about the Seahawks.

If you continue to be a jerk I will take this up with TNT with hopes that they will take care of you.

  115. SandpointHawk says:

Facts are facts, but keep running with innuendo, it’s much more fun. The league was reviewing the tapes over a month before Winston was signed. How do you figure or how does your source connect the two? I don’t want to spoil the fun but I’m not seeing any connection between the fine and Winston being on the team…

  116. sluggo42 says:

Oh for pity’s sakes Goergia, get over yourself

  117. So I guess the 6th round 2015 draft trade for DB Marcus Burley with Indy is to replace the now vacant spot of DB Phil Adams

  118. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Thanks Mo.

I saw that link earlier (about how good Sweezy has been).

Perhaps that is why Sluggo is trolling of late.
He was one of the biggest Sweezy bashers around & now he has to figure out a way to get the taste of crow out of his mouth.

  119. Going back to a Q that Sluggo asked earlier: So is clearing waivers follow the same pattern as the draft? The teams select players according to their spot to chose in the draft? How does this work? I’ve never read anything about it.

  120. PLUHawkFan says:

    Michael Sam was just cut..

  121. PLUHawkFan says:

I don’t know for sure, (chuck would be the one to clarify) But I read somewhere else that we are 32nd on waiver list. Since that was our draft position I would “assume’ (maybe incorrectly) there is correlation with draft position.

  122. boucherm says:

Vested veterans(4 yrs, I think), can sign with whatever team they want. Other, younger players have to pass through waivers. The order of teams priority for waiver claims is the worst teams from last year get first pick, so this year the Texans can claim anyone they want. Works just like draft order.

  123. jawpeace says:

The answer to your question is written in the article I posted at 1:05. Here is a paragraph from the article.
The Seahawks have traded a sixth rounder in next year’s Draft for Colts defensive back Marcus Burley. Burley has apparently had a very impressive camp for the Colts and was slated to potentially make their 53-man roster so the Seahawks evidently felt that even if he was waived, they wouldn’t be able to pick him up with their 32nd position in the waiver wire. He’ll come in and compete with Jeremy Lane for the nickel spot.

  124. sluggo42 says:

It’s funny the esteem that you hold yourself with Georgia, it’s getting worse of late, kinda like you were last year before you changed your ways.

I admit I was down on sweeze, because he did suck then, but I’m glad he is getting better. I still don’t see all-pro, but will be happy if he does. But before you anoint him to king, let’s see if his pass pro can match his run blocking game. There is no crow to eat, as he was exactly what I said he was. I know you placed your life savings on the guy, so I’m glad he’s turning out decently.

Now, since you are so into Seahawk talk, perhaps you could answer the Seahawk related question I posed earlier?

  125. Can this burley guy return punts?

  126. GeorgiaHawk says:

You had your chance Sluggo. Your last post was flagged (at 12:58 pm) & you will continue to get flagged every time you post something that is personal at me.

It doesn’t take much effort to keep a thread focused primarily on Seahawks related material.

But you continue to go out of your way to attack me on your posts with no intent of posting anything Seahawks related.

  127. Ray_Maines says:

Apparently the Benson Mayowa era has come to a close

  128. CDHawkFan says:

Sluggo, if you took about another handle to stir the pot then leave dude and get something else to do. Most of us take this seriously, we don’t need someone screwing around for their own laughs. Seriously, go screw yourself and leave this group.

  129. sluggo42 says:

Lol, whatever. I guess you showed me!

  130. PLUHawkFan says:

Trolls get on people’s nerves. For the Recorda troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]

I was out of line, but I got upset yesterday at the wave of trolling I’ve seen lately and it irritated me. And i’m not even the one being impersonated or messed with. I can only imagine Slaves, Georgia’s and others frustration.

We all just need to keep the forum civil. That means not personally attacking anyone. That’s my opinion at least. Anyway….. I don’t want to get myself into trouble again. So back to Football, (still waiting for official list)

  131. Answered my own question:

Guys, chill please. I didn’t read Sluggo’s “offending” post as a troll, just a comment on a troll post from the previous thread. I had to take a double take on that particular post myself when I first saw it until I saw it was from the anti-Georgaa and then reported it to the fine folks here.

  132. GeorgiaHawk says:

I didn’t show you nothing. You asked for it!

And you will keep getting it if your trolling attacks continue.

    Got it?!

  133. CD, Yeah evidently WAY too seriously. You guys are blowing this way out of proportion.

  134. jawpeace says:

I am getting damn tired of the trolling and bickering. Hubris is not funny. My definition of a bully. Piling it on someone who is not liked by a few to join the group and trying to get cheap laughs at someone else expense.

I think I am going to take a break from this blog for a while.

  135. PLUHawkFan says:

I wouldn’t say WAY to seriously. Remember, we’re all human and from time to time stuff builds up. Then all it takes is a little incident to finally spill things over….

So don’t base your opinion on just the last couple of hours thread…. We have a forum Moderator in Gregg, but he has many other duties and is extremely busy. So the best way to keep things civil on the forum is for the regulars to settle things ourselves.

I think most of us are just overanxious for the “Real Season” …. not that everyone needs it. But I plead Temporary insanity for all of us. Let’s wipe the slate clean and get back to talking football on the best Seahawks Blog around.

  136. GeorgiaHawk says:

Some regular posters like to cowardly hide behind other usernames.

It isn’t the first time here & it won’t be the last.

This is the first time though that I am handling it here & also higher up (flagging trolls) because it’s getting repetitive
With intent to do nothing useful or Seahawks related.

  137. CDHawkFan says:

Mo, that’s your opinion. You realise not everyone sees it the same as you? I will do the same, I won’t tell you to feel a certain way. Again, I think purposely getting a different handle to get under others skins (be a man…man) goes against the rules and what this community stands for. Do you disagree, do you think this is okay? If so, why?

  138. I think georgia needs a timeout. Like my 4 year old nephew.
BTW, Burleson is only 33. Why the AARP jokes?

  139. sluggo42 says:

Lol, like I said, get over yourself. This is to whoever thinks it’s to. Not a personal attack at anyone. Just overly sensitive people.

  140. sluggo42 says:

Jaw piece, thanks for the answer, so in essence, it’s going to be nearly impossible to get any of the freshly released youngsters with any promise…

  141. NewJerseyHawk says:

Trade with Indy must mean we have one of the following

    A) Decision to potentially try and extend Maxwell, despite being out of shape starting camp, maybe they want to lock him up soon at a reasonable price.

    B) Lane, Shead or Simon may be on the move to a more desperate team needing Corners (NYJets perhaps).

    C) Pinkins isn’t expected back this year where this trade for the Colt CB potentially fills in for Pinkins not having a chance to prove he could make the roster.

    D) A potential 4 game suspension is looming for one of the CB’s….If you remember, when we had Sherman and Browner out of the CFL, many thought in 2012 draft, why we were taking more CB’s….then Browner got suspended as did WTIII. Perhaps Pete and company are being proactive and covering themselves in case a trade or suspension is looming soon, where we might be short handed. We are playing 4 top QB’s early (Rodgers, Rivers, Manning etc…)

  142. sluggo42 says:

Truth is, I didn’t see the different name, I was actually trying to be friendly funny. But it seems to be too much for some. No skin off my nose that you want to take it to the nth degree.

  143. boucherm says:

NewJersey–I disagree. I think this is a classic move by this GM/Coach to bring in another guy to compete. This is a slot corner, something that Shead and Simon are ill suited for. Lane is the only good inside guy on the roster, before this.
The only reason for giving up a pick is the team’s spot in in waiver order, as above.

  144. sluggo42 says:

Say PLU, are you semi new around here? Do you know any of the history for the last few years?

I’m just curious as I don’t remember your name, but that is meaningless as I also can’t remember what I ate for breakfast…

  145. NewJerseyHawk says:

boucherm….maybe, but part of the team’s roster is flexibility….Maxwell or Simon are not prototypical slot CB’s, but they never addressed the position in the draft, maybe this is an advanced draft pick surrendered to cover it now.

I don’t know who doesn’t make the roster if you trade for someone that almost has to make the roster or final 53….. Unless he can return punts, it crowds the roster even more.

  146. Dukeshire says:

PLU has been around for a while.

Sadly I’m going to sound like Yank here, but I’m not surprised Winston has been released. I thought, and unlike the Troll posted this here, that the only way he’d make the team was if there were a rash of injuries.

  147. Why are the Seahawks waiting to release the cut list? They turned it into the league at 1pm. I don’t see what they gain by not releasing the info.

  148. sluggo42 says:

Does anyone know who were all of the final keepers? I thought it was to be finalized by 1:00 today?

  149. Wow, a lot posters on here seem to be falling into the Seattle fan base inferiority complex syndrome, sad. How anyone can get offended, bothered, or take things so personally on a Seahawk blog is kinda ridiculous. I say man up and don’t whine about it. It’s really not that hard to skip certain posts, I do it all the time. As a Seahawks fan, it’s embarrassing reading some of this garbage, especially when they continue to drag on.

  150. PLUHawkFan says:

I’ve been around for years. I haven’t always posted much, but I’ve been around since about the Time Eric took over as the Moderator.. 2008, 2009? Don’t remember exactly. It’s been awhile though..

  151. My daughter is in second grade. They have an area of the classroom set aside called Alaska. It’s a place for kids to cool down or chill out. We all have a little second grader in us still from time to time. I don’t think any regular could admit to having a perfect past on the blog getting bent out of shape for this or that. Gregg shouldn’t have to deal with it though. He’s got much bigger fish to fry.

I have never been as high on Lane as most people so I am glad someone is coming in to challenge at the nickel. Make no mistake, I utterly love Lane on ST though.

  152. sluggo42 says:

Right on PLU, I just wasn’t sure if you had remembered any of last years bickering. Seems that not all was forgotten…….
But I guess the suspense of today’s news is driving us all bonkers. I’m with ya tho. Clean slate for a new year.

  153. It’s 2:40. When do we get the list that was supposedly released 9 minutes ago (or 4 1/2 hours ago if they mean Eastern time)?

  154. PLUHawkFan says:

I hear ya, but can I ask you a question? How are you any different? Your posting “complaining” about what you see on the blog. (Not liking what you see) Yet thats exactly what others have done. Posted about personal attacks or trolls.

Let me quote you.. “How anyone can get offended, bothered, or take things so personally on a Seahawk blog is kinda ridiculous. I say man up and don’t whine about it. It’s really not that hard to skip certain posts”

Yet you did exactly what you say we shouldn’t do???
It has nothing to do with “Seattle Fan base inferiority” as you call it. (which could be argued is a Troll style post btw) It has to do with some of us caring about what happens on the blog. (Including you apparently)

    I’m just saying……..

  155. sluggo42 says:

Geez bobby, you had me going on Lane till I finished your post. I have been lukewarm with him, but I thought he really played well during the Bears game with the pick and the almost pick.
I read a small blurb about the new guy that said he was blazingly fast and nimble, so a slot cover back up/competition is all good.

  156. All is showing right now is:
QB Terrelle Pryor, OT Eric Winston, CB Phillip Adams, DE Benson Mayowa

Three’s no list for the Whiners yet

  157. GeorgiaHawk says:

Anyone looking for updates on cuts go to field gulls. They have an open thread for it & will most likely be the fastest source.

You will have to wade through some Sam being cut arguments though.

  158. I agree about wanting some completion at the Nickle as well for Lane.

  159. sluggo42 says:

I’ve had to reside in Alaska a few times myself, doh!

  160. GeorgiaHawk says:

Obviously some don’t just skip over posts like they say they do.

  161. TomPelissero Tom Pelissero
#Seahawks sent pamphlet to agents this year noting they’re willing to cut draft picks. Fifth-round pick Jimmy Staten among those cut today.

  162. QB B.J. Daniels released

  163. sluggo42 says:

I think burly puts an end to aguste. He didn’t look good against the raiders

  164. No surprise about BJD since I fully expect him to be on the PS shortly to stash him away. Is Staten a PS target too? I’m thinking he must be.

  165. Not sure about this from another post that says it’s on cnn
OT Wade Smith, CB Terrell Thomas, OT Cory Brandon, RB Demitrius Bronson, S Mike Dobson, DE Jackson Jeffcoat, WR Kevin Smith, CB Thomas Wolfe, DT Michael Brooks, WR David Gilreath, LB Horace Miller, QB Terrelle Pryor, OT Eric Winston, CB Phillip Adams, DE Benson Mayowa

  166. PLUHawkFan says:

I’m wondering about Lockette, I have this crazy feeling he might get released. He’s been great on ST’s but I think Walters and Norwood push him off the roster. We’ll say.. but thats my guess.

  167. PLUHawkFan says:

    Ugg We’ll see….. stupid fingers.

  168. GeorgiaHawk says:

And yes it does get offensive at times.

I remember BobbyK getting all upset over someone using his username on a chat. I don’t recall BobbyK going to timeout for weeks if ever after that happened.

I usually won’t let trollish behavior get to me ( especially if they have some football IQ) however when they really don’t have anything much to offer on this blog but insults & low football IQ it gets annoying fast.

It just so happened the rat got caught with the cheese in this case.

And I didn’t even have to set a trap. Just wait for the Rat to show up without his other username.

  169. sluggo42 says:

Lockett has speed on ST and receiver.
Walters returns punts and has better hands

Neither start. It’s almost a coin flip.

Lockett hangs out with the enemy during off season. But splatters punt returners…

I’ll guess lock sticks, but I have about 5% confidence in that pick! and would wager perhaps two-bits at best…

  170. PLUHawkFan says:

As far as practice squad candidates, I think thats a duck shoot. We are last on the waiver list, and as has been reported, scouts have been swarming Seahawk practices and games. ANYONE we release is going to be looked at pretty hard I think.

The chances of us slipping someone through waivers (that we REALLY want to keep) I would say is slim to none. We’ll hope, but I wouldn’t count on someone (especially ones that were really close on the bubble) making it through.

I think JS/PC will focus more on who “other teams” are releasing and trying to pick up some quality players for PS, then they will hoping and praying someone we release squeaks through.

Thats my take on it at least…

  171. PLUHawkFan says:

Only a quarter wager… cheapskate! *Grin… I’ll wager ya 2 bits though. Friendly bet. I’m 40% confident Lockette gets cut.

    We’ll see…..

  172. I’m 100% confident Lockette will not get cut. Since the decision has already been made and no word of it has leaked out.

  173. PLUHawkFan says:

Do you have complete list of cut players someplace yet? I haven’t found a complete list myself. If you have who did we keep on WR core?

  174. sluggo42 says:

Aha, you know what two bits is worth, so you exposed yourself as a touch older than say 25.
But, I’ll go ya a beer, should we ever somehow meet in real over this pending question. And the reall funny thing would be both getting cut! Ha
    But I I doubt that

    You got Walters
    I got the rocket.

I had a good beer last light, tt was a Firestone DBA or something like that.

  175. That center guy we picked up so Green Bay could not have him. Has he been cut?

  176. sluggo42 says:

You know this as the truth?

  177. This was posted by pnwfan. It looks comprehensive.

At around 1:30 today Lockette tweeted that he has been fined 22,000 for the hit in the Bears game. If he had been cut, he would have tweeted about it. I think.

  178. sluggo42

The Seahawks had to turn the list of cuts into the league at 1pm. They haven’t released it to us yet. If Lockette was informed of being cut at 1 pm, he would have mentioned it in his 1:28 tweet.

  179. Did Gilliam play much in the pre season games? I guess by the time he was in I wasn’t paying as much attention. Of course not hearing an O linemans name called is a good thing.

  180. sluggo42 says:

Perhaps all the cut guys don’t have twitter accts…

  181. Georgia – I posted less last year-plus in a year where I should have posted the most because of how good this team was because I was angry about that crap (others saying I was posting as someone else).

If you must know, I got in touch with Eric and the tech guy (Ian) and Ian knew that the morons saying I was someone else were posting from areas well away from my part of the country but he obviously couldn’t say anything else based on confidentiality stuff. Eric and Ian would have gone to bat for me on this blog (based on what they knew; i.e. could prove without naming names) but recommended that we should just let it pass and not make a big deal out of it. When your name/credibility are attacked, it isn’t any fun.

When you get liars (or fools who are clearly wrong about an accusation) that say things, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I clearly post much less than I used to. Granted, I used to post too much and spent too much time here based on what a well rounded person should do but I am excited in the direction we’re headed again…

  182. Gilliam is sportin’ in that tux in his twitter pic! He is one guy I haven’t heard very much about…perhaps that is his “road less traveled” that he mentions. Good for you, Gilliam, now get out there and protect our man RW!

  183. thelostboys says:

Who is this Burley guy we traded for from the Colts. A DB. Don’t know anything about him. Article said undrafted in 2013…I think.

  184. Why the news blackout from the NFL?

  185. CDHawkFan says:

Bobby, I was one of, or the one who accused you of being ACIB. I was convinced it was you, but have to admit that I am far less certain now. In the end I will never know and because of that I should not have accused you in the first place. It probably doesn’t help now, but I I apologise for my accusation.

  186. PLUHawkFan says:

NFL network will be doing Total Access in 5min. We should get the scoop then *I hope

  187. Could the lack of news be related to trade talks?

  188. thelostboys says:

Should have read first and not posted. This was already covered above. My bad.

  189. The Seahawks have released wide receiver Bryan Walters, according to Adam Caplan from

  190. Looks like they kept 7 receivers

  191. sluggo42 says:

PLU, should we ever meet in person, you owe me 2-bits, with which I will promptly buy you a beer.

    Good work rbuzby!

  192. Bryan Walters released per ESPN

  193. Kept Norwood, can’t wait to see him play. Bummed about Walters but I’ll bet he ends up on someone else’s 53

  194. johnpboyle John Boyle
#Seahawks waived Allen, Auguste, Bronson, Clark, Daniels, Hauptmann, Isles, Lewis, Matthews, Mayowa, Parks, Pryor, Pulu, Small, Saten, Pryor

  195. johnpboyle John Boyle
#Seahawks cuts continued… Small, Staten, Terrell, Toomer, Walters, Ware. D’Anthony Smith to IR.

  196. Ready for Gregg to post a new article about the final cuts so we can let this thread ride away into the sunset! :-)

  197. seahawkfan97 says:
  198. sluggo42 says:

Walters and spencer the only two serious bubbles… Looking to see if any other cuts get picked up, but I doubt we do. But I bet some of our cuts get taken.

  199. BigShermyWorm says:

Can’t we all just get along? Just forgive and forget what has been said today. Whoever posted under GeorgaaHawk is lame though.

From last thread.-Your prize is a new username.

Georgia, I didn’t want a new user name. Your boy Todd kept banning me because I called him out for one of his Lynch threads. Completely reasonably too if you ask me.

  200. Ray_Maines says:

Wow. They kept three TE’s and seven WR’s.

    Which position groups suffered?

  201. BigShermyWorm says:

Sure didn’t see them keeping 7 WRs. Doubt many did.

  202. BigShermyWorm says:

Ray, they only kept 2 QBs and 4 RBs. Bates did play some FB awhile ago so he probably could in a pinch. Not that you have to play a FB these days.

  203. Hammajamma says:

Mild surprise that Schilling survived over Hauptmann and Bates over Walters.

  204. MoSeahawk12 says:

I think Carroll was showcasing Walters the last game so that he’d have a better chance to land on another team. I’m sure they’d like to be able to do that with all most of the players, but the game is only four quarters. Walters played hard and proved he could play at this level and I expect he will get a chance soon.

A few years ago he would have made this team easily as our receiver unit wasn’t very deep or talented. Our current group is likely going to be the most deep and talented group we’ve possibly ever had.
This group is one of strengths of an already strong and loaded team. Great time to be a Seahawks fan.

  205. GeorgiaHawk says:

I was talking about when someone steals your username on a chat or uses a username in the likeness of your username on a blog knowing that some folks will mistaken it for you.

I started the day talking about my favorite team on the blog all excited for the 53 (which I still am.)

Then I see this username again so I continue to ignore it on the blog. So finally the rat can’t help himself but to show up with his regular username to troll me again & again.

Not something I will put up with for very long. Or have to put up with.
The rat had a chance to back off & go find another place to nest.

It didn’t so I called the exterminator.

Now the rat is not trolling me.

Problem solved. At least for now.

If I saw a rat/troll doing the same to you or anyone else here that only has one purpose but to drag you down with personal insults I would be the first to step in & defend you.

  206. PLUHawkFan says:

Well apparently the final list is out…. So my question now is.

Ooooo Gregg….. Come out come out wherever you are……………

We desperately need a new thread!!!!!

I own up, I owe ya sluggo I’m sure something can be arranged at some point. I live in Tacoma…

  207. Ray_Maines says:

    I thought they’d keep 2 TE’s and five RB’s. Not at all surprised about 2 QB’s.

I don’t even try to keep up with the D-Line and LB’s

  208. Been married for 33 years so I’ve learned how to be wrong most of the time so I think Bronson is getting picked up by Houston is a sure thing. Again my wife isn’t going for it so hoping he ends up on our PS

  209. MrSinister says:

Did someone die and Make Georgia a hall monitor when I wasn’t looking? Geez dude. The irony to me is that you troll people all the time. You call out yank every chance you get. Climb down off that high horse and chill out.
