The Seattle Seahawks announced they have signed offensive lineman Wade Smith on Monday, who will play tackle.

They claimed tackle Cory Brandon off waivers Sunday and he has suited up for the first time at training camp practice today.

The moves come after former Seahawks second-year offensive lineman Michael Bowie was waived/injured and subsequently picked up by the Cleveland Browns.

Smith played three years for the Houston Texans and was with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009. He was a third-round draft pick in 2003 out of Memphis.

Dn’t get too excited..The Texands line stunk!

Twitter reporting Phil Bates struggled off the field and into the lockerroom with the #Seahawks training camp. Looks like an injury to the left arm.

He was having a good camp and a real sleeper to make the team. Hope it’s not to serious

  5. jawpeace says:

never hurts signing someone elses cuts. especially at a position where we are weak.

  6. GeorgiaHawk says:

Cable says it’s more about the system than the players.

I say keep bringing them in & see how they fit into his system until they find the right fit.

And one that will stay fit.

  7. Dukeshire says:

This guy’s not making the team unless the injuries mount even further.

  8. The name of the game is Winston and Smith can play UNHERT and will make the team!

  9. “Cable says it’s more about the system then the player”, damn, how long does it take for the system to kick in?

I think its great they are adding experienced veterans that have zone blocking chops (no pun intended). Tired of these rookies learning on the fly and getting eaten alive by opposing defensive linemen while RW runs for his life. And I’m sure they were cheap. Smith was a pro bowler just two years ago. Good job, John.

    beautiful comment!

Are you 300 pounds or more?
Can you spell the word “OL”?

Then YOU, yes YOU can be a training camp body on the NFL Champion SEATTLE SEAHAWKS! Come on down!

  13. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Exactly trout_hound.

    Lol South.

  14. Cable has had four years, yet still has failed at three positions out of five to field even average players. Sigh. It just keeps on going…

I hate the ZBS with a passion.

Perhaps its time Pete and John just go out and get some guys who can play NOW. Guys like Winston. Not sure this Wade Davis dude is the guy, he’s pretty old (11 year vet). But any competition is welcome at this point…

Im still holding out hope our starting line will be good, with Okung-NoLongerFatCarp-Unger-Sweezy-Winston taking the field game one. And I think Britt will be good–just not this year. And I like Bailey. Hauptman seems to be making strides as well. The rest, meh!

  15. Cable can coach a guy up – I just don’t think they can evaluate talent very well – sounds weird I know but still . . .
