Seahawks set practice squad, still have two open spots on it

The Seahawks have announced their practice squad following the end of the league’s waiver period off of Saturday’s cuts.

All the practice-squad players were in Seattle’s training camp and preseason. They all practiced today here in Renton.

The team still has two more spots it can fill, as the league for the first time this season allows up to 10 players on a practice squad:

TE RaShaun Allen

RB Demitrius Bronson

QB B.J. Daniels

T Nate Isles

WR Chris Matthews

S Terrance Parks

DT Jimmy Staten

S Steven Terrell

–I still haven’t heard of any team claiming WR Bryan Walters

Percy Harvin returns from “personal matters” as Seahawks begin full preparations for Green Bay

Cancel the civil-defense alarms. Bring back the search parties. Percy Harvin is back with the Seahawks.

I can hear your sighs of relief from here. They effectively erase the angst over Harvin being granted three days last week — including missing the exhibition finale last Thursday at Oakland — to deal with what coach Pete Carroll and the team said were “personal matters.”

I’m told those matters were indeed innocuous. That plus the fact he was zooming around the fields at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center again this morning during the team’s first practice of a regular-season game week

Seahawks back on the field to prepare for Thursday’s opener vs. Packers; will set practice squad this afternoon

The Seahawks are in meetings and getting the full game plan this morning for Thursday’s NFL opening showcase game against Green Bay at CenturyLink Field. They will be back on the practice field in Renton late this morning following two days off the field. I’ll be watching for Percy Harvin; the wide receiver was gone Tuesday into this weekend with what the team has termed a “personal matter.” If he’s not back this morning, then that becomes an issue.

This afternoon we in the media get Packers coach Mike McCarthy and, we expect, quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the regular opponent

NFL source confirms that the Seahawks will release QB Terrelle Pryor on Saturday

An NFL source with knowledge of the imminent transaction has confirmed to The News Tribune what Pro Football Talk reported earlier this evening, that the Seahawks will release quarterback Terrelle Pryor when they announce their final cuts to get to the league-mandated 53-man roster for the regular season by 1 p.m. Saturday.

The source requested anonymity because the Seahawks have not announced the move.

It means Pryor will go on league waivers, free for any of the other 31 teams to claim.

A Seahawks spokesman said on Thursday night in Oakland that there will be no announcements on any

Seahawks’ defense says it needs to “clean up little things”; Pete Carroll’s so-so assessment of Terrelle Pryor’s exhibition finale

The Seahawks arrived back to team headquarters in Renton in the middle of the night following the kind of wild, 41-31 loss at Oakland in the exhibition finale. That game proved this:

*The starting offense — particularly Russell Wilson and the passing game — couldn’t be flying higher entering Thursday’s opener against Green Bay. Eleven scores in 13 preseason drives, the empty trips between the very first drive at Denver Aug. 7 when the offensive line was missing three starters and Wilson was just running to stay upright, and last week against Chicago when Steven Hauschka had a 53-yard field

Pete Carroll following Seahawks’ 41-31 exhibition finale loss at Oakland: “We are ready” for Green Bay

The focus in the Seahawks’ locker room postgame tonight here in Oakland was on how sharp Russell Wilson and the starting offense was in zooming to a touchdown on an 80-yard drive behind three completions by Wilson in as many throws.

It wasn’t on the mess that followed in the 41-31 loss to the Raiders, in which Seattle’s first- and second-team defense allowed 35 points and 262 yards in the first half.

“We are ready,” coach Pete Carroll said.

He noted how great Wilson looks right now. The third-year starter went 33 for

Raiders 41, Seahawks 31: Postgame reaction blog

Well, well. What have we here?

The Seattle Seahawks finished the exhibition season Thursday night with an ugly, 41-31, loss to the Raiders in Oakland.

Don’t let the final score fool you, either, it wasn’t that close.

The Seahawks offense looked great for the one series Russell Wilson captained at quarterback, opening the scoring with a four-play, 80-yard drive that culminated with a 25-yard strike to tight end Luke Willson.

After that, Oakland flexed its offensive might (did I really just write that?).

Rookie QB Derek Carr had a field day against Seattle’s No. 1 and No. 2 defense, completing
