The Seahawks have released tight end Chase Dixon, waived/injured guard Jared Smith and signed wide receiver Morrell Presley, the team announced today.

Dixon signed with Seattle as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 10 and Smith was Seattle’s second of three seventh-round draft choices (241st overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent last season on practice squad/injured reserve (leg).

Presley participated in Seattle’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis on May 16-18. He began his career at UCLA before transferring to California University (Pa.).

Seattle currently has 88 players on its roster.

  1. I remember firesign theater: they are still playing online – funny guys!

If ML holds out from camp and then comes back late, will he be able to perform like Big Walt did when he held out. ML makes about $2.1M less than J.Charles with ML’s current contract for this season and next added together. It wouldn’t be like TR paying SA after the ’05 season, but SEA has the 2.1M under cap if they want to give it to him. The longer ML holds out – does that add to cap space or not?
