Happy 4th! Light a bottle rocket for me! The classic class c fireworks are forbidden down here in la-la land.

We have fireworks in my neighborhood that put some towns to shame. I still have to buy my beer today though.

  4. Southendzone says:

Hey Todd, you got mentioned & linked in a bleacher report post.

    You’re big-time now.

    Happy 4th

  5. Hammajamma says:

Passing on a line from Jerry Brewer’s column this morning, reacting to Charlie Casserly’s comment that he’d take at least 12 QB’s over Wilson:

“The NFL would take at least 32 general managers over Casserly, which is why he’s working in the media now.”

  6. blueshq says:

Wow, someone else with blues in their name!
    Happy 4th everyone!

  7. AzulVerde says:

    Happy Independence Day Everyone!

And just a note of encouragement after listening to the prognasticators being down on Wilson. I take GREAT Solace in rubbing their faces in there own “previous” predictions. If we stopped to evaluate 3/4 of these prognasticators and gave them a grade on their accuracy in predictions, we could and should ignore the majority of what most of them said.

Example from Last year!! I should email this guy and say “What do you think about your article now, MORON!”
Russel Wilson will fail in 2013

Keep on predicting that our Hawks are overrated go ahead. It just adds fuel to their fire!!!

Az, thank you for the link. John Garner is absolutely on target with his assessment. Russell Wilson will fail, the Seahawks will not live up to the elevated expectations, and the Giants, Ravens, or Saints are more worthy of that #1 ranking. That dude is brilliant!

  9. jawpeace says:

Enjoy your fourth! Glad I am not a kid getting ripped off by the liberal city leaders. Who have banned almost all fireworks “Fireworks that fly, explode, travel more than one foot into the air or more than six feet on the ground are already AGAINST THE LAW in Oregon.” So you can have pop its, smoke bombs, sparkler, wheels, and fountains. TOTALLY LAME for a kid who grew up on an Indian Reservation in Washington.

  10. MoSeahawk12 says:

John Garner is another that doesn’t have a clue. This guy should get into writing about what color the mold is between his ears. He’s clearly not remotely capable to discuss football, the Seahawks or Russell Wilson. The wins speak much louder than passing yards. These guys only look at passing yards and determine which QBs are any good. Payton Manning had the most passing yards ever…until it counted in the biggest game. He also set a Superbowl record for most completions during a Superbowl, which only turned into eight points and a wipeout loss. Meanwhile Wilson had great QB rating, completion %, TDs, oh and wins…lots of wins. A Superbowl win even.

The other thing that these guys always miss when they say that Wilson throws the fewest passes therefore he’s not a real QB, he’s a running QB, a scrambler and so forth is that even though he throws less passes he still has a lot of TD passes. He has more than any 2nd year QB besides Marino. That is impressive as he does it with far fewer opportunities.

  11. Southendzone says:

As an old man now, I understand the fireworks laws. I set so much shit on fire accidentally as a kid with fireworks, and each now year I find at least 1 burnt out bottle rocket on my roof. My use of fireworks as a kid was driven by “Hey this would be cool!”

If there was a pie chart of fireworks use broken between responsible and careless, the responsible portion would be a tiny sliver.

So either I have to say in hindsight, I shouldn’t have been allowed to use fireworks, or say that because I got to be a f-up with fireworks, everyone else should get their crack at it too. It’s a moral dilemma.

  12. seatowntp says:

Irresponsible fireworks play is a part of boyhood that every male should be able to experience (and hopefully the consequences of those actions are not too harsh). I live in God forsaken Massachusetts and even “Sparklers” are disallowed! Here, possession of illegal fireworks can result in incarceration.

  13. Ray_Maines says:

The first page of that story wasn’t too goofy, but John Garner really got all fired up on page two.

I think what these guys really don’t understand is that RW is running the offense that Pete Carroll likes to run, and he’s running it very well. PC isn’t dumbing down the offense to compensate for RW shortcomings.

If RW continues to improve he may throw more, then again maybe not. If Johnny Unitas were reincarnated and played under PC, he wouldn’t be doing things much differently than RW.

Garner could write a two page piece about how boring or outdated PC’s offence is, but he’s wrong to say RW is the weak link in the system.

  14. Macabrevity says:

    Hammajamma – great quote!

  15. pabuwal says:

A lot of guys who get paid to analyze pro football don’t understand the concept of efficient passers vs volume passers. It requires more than a surface analysis and apparently that’s too much effort for guys who get paid to do this.

Oddly enough, Warren Sapp is one of the few who do understand this.

  16. Dukeshire says:

That law does not exist in Oregon, unless of course you’re referring to very specific areas with extreme fire hazards.
