Seattle went back to the offensive line by drafting offensive tackle Garrett Scott out of Marshall with the 199th overall pick in the sixth round. Scott is listed at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, but said Saturday he is up to 310 pounds.

Scott played left guard and left tackle at Marshall. Here’s a scout of him.

Seahawks assistant line coach Chris Morgan had worked him out and kept in touch with him.

Like Jimmy Staten, Scott had his graduation today. The Seahawks had contacted him earlier in the day and said he may be picked.

Positive: Started two of the past three seasons at both left guard and left tackle. Size prospect who flashed ability on the college field. Quickly sets up in pass protection, stays square, and keeps the defender in front of him. Sets with a wide base, quick out to the second level and explosive at the point of attack. Keeps his feet moving throughout the action and effectively bends his knees.

Negative: Lacks balance and struggles finishing blocks. Plays with a passive attitude. Does not show great awareness. Uses his hands poorly.

Analysis: Scott has the size and skill to be used at guard in a zone-blocking system but must improve and elevate almost every aspect of his game.

How can this turkey be a better value than Sam?

  3. banosser says:

Sam very well may be an UDFA…

  4. Saigon–I think Seattle would be a great place for Sam, and I like the kid, but why are you so high on him? His measurable a were not good, and he likely won’t be as effective vs Nfl competition.

I think he could be another Mayowa, but I wouldn’t draft him in the sixth. Just curious…

    Sam is now a Ram.
